Hey it's the Year in Review thing again!! I can't believe I'm doing this again... If I'm not mistaken Missa's blog still had this meme from last year until she updated it with another meme (hehe).
What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Nothing. All the new things (school, job) are thins that I’ve done before, a year or two ago, only at new places.
Did you keep your new year's resolutions and will you make more next year?
As usual I don’t remember my New Year resolutions from last year. I’m guessing I haven’t though.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes! Motti and Michal had a beautiful baby girl, named Ariel, who is the sweetest thing in the world.
Did anyone close to you die?
Not this year, thanks.
What countries did you visit?
Israel, Israel, and Israel.
What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Trips outside the country.
What dates from 2006 will remain etched in your memory and why?
January 1st, 2006 - the first day of my life after Internet Zahav. Can’t say without because I was, still am, too involved with Internet Zahav (some of my friends still work there.)
September 14th, 2006 - My last day at Overline, my “bosses” disappearing on my last day at work when we were supposed to have one last meeting, so I just left them my mobile and accessories, and walked out. Also my last day at Abbott Labs, (as a result of this being my last day on the job at Overline), the Rosh Hashana party they had that was also my farewell party. I was so frakken happy to leave…..
October 13th, 2006 - Friday the 13th, my 23rd birthday dinner-party.
October 16th, 2006 - First day of classes at the university.
November 5th, 2006 - My first day at the new job at EDS, after Overline was over.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Definitely starting classes again. It was a wholly boring year, previous to October 16th, with Overline for 9 boring months of being pissed at them and hating every second of being there. Then when classes started I was elated, I was happy. I wasn’t working at Overline anymore which already made things better, but my film, philosophy and literature classes made my life interesting.
What was your biggest failure this year?
Oh hell I dunno. Not much because I didn't do much that had a chance of failing.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing that was too bad… A cold during my first month on the job and during school (bad timing, bitch!)
What was the best thing you bought?
A ton of clothes for my birthday. I needed good clothes for work, and I got a ton!
Whose behavior merited celebration?
No one in particular. Sad, isn't it?
Whose behavior made you appalled and/or depressed?
/rant
Appalled, definitely appalled. My ex-bosses at Overline, being complete asses on my last month at work. I asked for a week long vacation (which I deserved by law!) and they refused, saying that this being my last month they need me at work to work with the new guy at Abbott, and so on. As it were, the new guy came two weeks after I was let go, and I was only at Abbott 2-3 times a week. The time I spent at the office I operated as secretary, taking notes, clearing desks, or I was on the sales team, looking for people Amit and Shai can call and offer their services. I hated it. They wouldn’t give me any technical work except for Abbott. I was so frakking pissed at them for not giving me my vacation, for giving me secretarial work… I ended up taking most days I wasn’t at Abbott off, supposedly for job interviews, most because I really didn’t want to be at the office.
And then… My last week on the job, I was at Abbott Labs on Monday and Wednesday, I was at the office on Sunday and took Tuesday off. On Sunday we agreed that I’ll come in Thursday at noon for a closing meeting, and then go off to Abbott. When I went in on Thursday at noon, I was pissed. Their cars weren’t at the lot, they weren’t in the office and Shay said they weren’t planning on coming in that day at all, both at meetings. I was frakking annoyed. I called them up, both the morons, and because neither answered me, I left them both a message saying “I was here, you were not. I’m not coming back. I’m at Abbott. I’m leaving my work-mobile on the new guy’s desk. I’m available at my personal mobile. Goodbye.”
What pissed me off the most was the fact that it’s a half hour drive out to where the office is. Really? Drive out there so that they stand me up? Sons of bitches.
Shook hands with Shay, left the office, drove to Abbott. They didn’t call me. Not for another week. When they did, it was 9:30am, and fuck you, I don’t have a job to get up for, this is my first week without a job, I’m going to fucking sleep as late as I want. And anyway, I don’t want to talk to them. So I let it ring and went back to sleep. The question is why the phone wasn’t on silent in the first place. Anyway, they asked that I send them the hours paper from my last month at Abbott. I faxed it to them without checking that they received it.
Really pissed me off.
/end rant
What did you spend most of your spare cash on?
What spare cash?
What song will always remind you of 2006?
None, I think…. Maybe one of Ninet’s songs… Ninet is the Israeli Idol and she has this one song whose name is “כשאתה כאן אז פחות”… which Liad and I translated to English into “when you are here so less” which is direct translation. It made us laugh. A lot. And then it got changed into “When Hetzi is here, so less”. Hetzi means “half” and our nickname for each other is “the other half”. Will definitely be a good reminder of 2006.
I have a funny story about “when you are here so less” regarding Liad’s current girlfriend but I’m not going to go into that now.
Happier or sadder?
I think happier. Overline which was most of the year (9 months) had me pissed off but that was at work and during work hours, it was a general uneasiness, but it didn’t affect my usual happy demeanor. And now with school and the new job - definitely happy. Very very happy.
Thinner or fatter?
About the same.
What do you wish you'd done more of?
Nothing, I think I did pretty well, hung out a lot, worked (working) a lot, doing schoolwork as expected, getting good grades….
What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastination…. It’s a bad, bad thing.
How will you be spending Christmas/Chanukah?
Family dinners on Thursday and Friday, the first candles of Chanukah, then working… And classes… No vacation for me, come back one year!
Did you fall in love in 2006?
Nah, love’s overrated.
How many one-night-stands?
2 or 3…. I don’t know if they count as one night stands, they’re more like you-busy’s… It’s always the same guy…
What was your favorite TV series?
Oh frak…. Tough one…. There’s Battlstar Galactica, Lost, Scrubs, and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which are all shows I watch weekly, and are all reallllly good.
Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don’t have in general so no. Dislike? Yeah a whole bunch…
What was the last book you read?
Catcher in the Rye, JD Salinger, for my literature class.
What was your greatest musical discovery?
Rediscovered Pink Floyd…. Hehe. Oh and Bear McCreary… I swear if I wasn’t a BSG fan as it were I’d still love his music.
What did you want and get?
A TV-card for my computer. And a new mp3 player, 1GB in size.
What did you want and not get?
New 19” LCD screen. And an IPAQ. And a new computer…
What was your favorite film this year?
You’ve got to be kidding….. Film majors don’t have favorite films.
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
More money, a normal boyfriend (because of him love is overrated at the moment).
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
More mature, fancy slacks, fancy shirts and sweaters for going to clients when at work, still jeans and comfortable shirts when at the office or regular clients, when I was being a field tech.
What kept you sane?
I’m not sane. Sorry.
What celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, as usual.
Who do you miss?
My dad. A bunch.
New York, my friends there.
Who was the best new person you met this year?
Best person I met… Sharon is the funniest person I met at the new job. Shalev was the crazy man I worked with at Overline and he was great, but too influenced by his bosses. Yael Shuv is my film professor and she’s also a movie-critique and she’s just the coolest person ever. I mean, really.
Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
That 22 and 23 are not that different.
