[If anyone happens to walk by one of the main communal kitchens downstairs, they might hear several cupboard doors opening and swinging shut, if not the whir of electric egg-beaters or beeping ovens.

[Surprise of all surprises, it's Ruka who's making a mess in here today: she has several bowls out, full of batter and dough, cookbooks lined up

[She's not really awkward -- the layout of the kitchen is just confusing! It doesn't help that everything is designed for people twice her height, anyway. She grabs a hold of one of the inner-cupboard supports before looking around an open door.]

Yuugi! What are you doing down here?

[Operation: Get Down Without Cracking Skull has commenced.]

[Ruka puts one hand firmly on the counter, and the other on Yuugi's should, before jumping off, landing safely on her feet. Phew! She smiles.]

[The smell of cooking lures Rua into the kitchen, he isn't surprised to see Ruka there since she cooked sometimes back home but seeing all this stuff out intrigued him]

Hey Ruka, whatcha making?

Secret cookies.

[Ruka dusts some flour off on her apron, and after a moment acquires a spoon to dig out a little bit of dough from one of the larger bowls. It's still on the moist side, so it sticks well to the spoon; chunks of white chocolate are visible. She offers the spoon to Rua.]

Tell me what you think. I'm trying something new.

[He eats all the dough off rather quickly and tries to get a second serving]

Yum! Its tasty, can I help?

Rua! [Ruka snatches the spoon back before he gets it in the batter, wiping it off on her apron.] You'll get spit in the dough if you do that.

Mmm. You get me more cane sugar. I'm almost out.

[Ruka is on yet another counter, still searching for the elusive jar of honey. There had to be some somewhere. But she'll get down for now.]

Uh, just cookies.

I've been looking for some honey for the past half an hour -- [Ruka starts climbing down carefully; her feet hit the floor with a thud.] -- but I haven't seen it.

Do you bake, too?

Ruka-chan! [a happy little boy looks at what Ruka is making] Can i help you?

Sure. Can you go get me another carton of eggs out of the fridge?

[he opens the refrigerator and takes out the carton of eggs]

Mmhmm. I'm really embarrassed, though. I accidentally agreed to go with the wrong person.

[Perseus is drawn by the sound of things being cooked, thinking it might by Honeysuckle, because who else seems to always be in the kitchen? He's surprised but not unhappy to see Ruka instead. Especially since she seems to be making cookies, and the last time he had cookies was the last lime he'd visited Martha. That was a while ago.]

Hey, Ruka. Need any help?

[Cue Ruka nearly fumbling off yet another counter as she sorts through the various exotic varieties of Vanilla extract.]

O-oh. Yuusei.

[She sounds uneasy, but that could just be because she was startled, yes? Her grip is firm on the cabinet.]

Could you check the oven? The timer hasn't gone off yet, but...

[Perseus runs over to make sure she isn't hurt before walking over to the oven to check on the cookies.]

Sure. They almost look done.

[Ruka gets down without much mishap, thank goodness, and with her bottle of extract. She's probably making way more cookies than she realizes, if she's going through so many ingredients.]

Oh, good. The pan on the front cooling rack should be done, now. You can move that to the counter...

[Ruka doesn't sound as upbeat as normal; her face is a little pale.]
