There appears to be a Puzzle just bobbing about in the air, as though it's going somewhere.  Occasionally, a door will open and the Puzzle will go into the doorway.  This may be your doorway.  Every so often, the Puzzle will appear to fall as though being dropped, only to rise back up again ( Read more... )

Papyrus "senses" spirits more than physically sees them, so she's unaware of the full situation. Any Item would be enough to get her attention, but the King's....?

She's staying back, following the moving Puzzle and debating how best to approach this theft. (Tch, magic - so unpredictable...)

Puzzle will just keep bobbing along. Until- oops. He'd let his concentration slip again, and down went Puzzle. Not quite to the floor, though. It's just going to hang there for a moment.

Well....this smells rotten, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Papyrus will dash out and reach down, in an attempt to sweep the Puzzle up as she passes. If there's a cord, she'll be grabbing for that instead of the gold - but if it's unavoidable, she will let her fingers touch the metal.

Well, there's a chain, so she probably caught it by that, then.

Which, of course, he is not amused by. There's now a very strong (but probably not overwhelming, given who she is) voice in her head.

"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't just trap you in the labyrinth of the Puzzle now and just leave you there, intruder."

--oh shit.

Papyrus jumps a little, then ducks into the nearest doorway on instinct to converse with her heist. She knew the damn things could do all kinds of stuff to her, but no magician had ever bothered writing down they were freaking alive--

Once she's calm, and has formed a(n incorrect) guess about what she's talking to, she smirks and holds the Puzzle up.

"Just one?" A chuckle. "Why don't you judge me and see for yourself, hmm? I think you'll like what I have in mind."

His ability to read the minds of those other than his aibou is extremely limited - mostly, there's a feeling of who they are, what they're like, that's only what's on the surface.

"One chance is all that you get. And I don't make a habit of judging people without knowing what their crimes are - regardless of first impressions..."

Oh, no. Usually there was a game involved first. Or something. And despite himself, there's a certain amount of (morbid) curiosity for the Egyptian woman with hair as white as his partner's.

"Ohhhhh~?" Papyrus tilts her head, sneering, but this is - wrong. It doesn't add up with what she knows of Items at all. Not the talking, and certainly not...

"I thought that was all your kind was good for, Item," she drawls, and holds the chain out like she's getting ready to put it on. "But one chance is all I need."

Her smirk deepens. "Do you remember....Kul Elna?"

There are a great many things about this that he doesn't like, and her holding the chain out like that is the least of his problems right now. He's at a disadvantage not remembering anything, and he knows it, and hates it.

"Unfortunately for you, things aren't so simple as that. You won't get far asking after events that happened three thousand years ago - if appearances are to be believed..."

There's the strangest feeling at the mention of 'Kul Elna', a metaphysical shiver of sorts. Something's telling him it's important, but he'd prefer to get the story out of someone he feels he could trust.

...it's from the same time as that kid. Papyrus sucks in a breath, not bothering to hide her interest in that fact. Still, they're getting nowhere. And if she has to prove herself - heh. Really only one way.

"Well." It shouldn't be possible for a person's grin to get this wide. "That's the way you're gonna play, then talk is cheap...You into women of action, Mister Item of Ultimate Darkness?"

And she puts the Puzzle around her neck. The King of Thieves overcomes traps by springing them.
