I knew I should have chosen green tea instead of chai, Isis thought, pressing a hand to her head as she walked down the street back towards the hotel. Although her talk with Timaeus had been an ( Read more... )

Boredom was not the word, and he was pretty sure there was no word to go with it. Malik had disappeared somewhere off into the distance of the evening like Isis had requested of him and well, some requests went unheard and of course where promptly ignored by certain individuals who would rather watch infomercials than even consider ‘making friends’ with the sad pathetic sods that inhabited the city beyond the hotels windows.

Granted he ha already done what he could to keep himself entertained and was currently musing on how foolish it was to put two beds in one hotel room for one guest. Scratching the bottom of his chin for a moment in contemplation, the darkness formed, surveyed the scene ( ... )

Isis' sleep -- if it could be called that, which was questionable, given the circumstances -- was fitful, and in her unaware state, she'd tried to push the sheet away to allow cool air to soothe her bit of fever. Half-formed images of old dreams and elusive memories seemed determined not to allow her a peaceful rest, which she probably could have used after the past few weeks of stress.

In the darkness he could see someone shift amongst skewed sheets of the bed. Pillows on the floor and a figure looking most uncomfortable slowly became more clear as he stepped out of the path of the light, a small beam spilling upon a body of a woman, a woman he knew all to well, but this was not the woman he normally saw, that much was certain ( ... )

It was like a sixth sense; something in the room just wasn't right. It urged Isis back to a reluctant wakefulness, even though opening her eyes was the last thing she wanted to do at the moment. Waking meant thinking, meant not feeling well, meant many things, few of which seemed pleasant anymore.

Still, it was hard to ignore. With a sigh, she rolled over, casting dark strands of hair across the pillow, and reluctantly forced her eyes open to the darkened room.

There was someone standing next to her bed, a silhouette.

A second's pause; then she gave a short shriek, sitting up and grabbing the nearest thing (the alarm clock off the nightstand) and threw it at the person's head.

Well. He certainly was not expecting that either and fatefully when one does not expect something, they do not react properly nor do they react on time. It was all really mathematical. Considering the speed at which the alarm clock (around the size of a medium pineapple) was projected at another object (that looked kinda like a pineapple) and the time in which the second object had to move away from the object in question, it was obvious that something was going to hurt.

Hearing the shriek and watching her shift he had enough time to barely turn away, eyes widening, shielding himself from the item throw and instead of getting hit in the face, was clocked (ironically) on the back of his head as it nipped his shoulder, making him make a rather sharp sound of pain and grab the back of his head, wincing, nearly stumbling to the ground but catching himself upon the nearest wall.

When the person gave a pained shout, Isis lowered her hands which had come up rather defensively, as she recognized the voice. "Marik!"

Then she realized she was sitting in her rather thin nightwear, and clutched the sheet, her voice shrill. "What are you doing in my room??"

Rubbing the back of his head and biting at his lower lip sharply to take his mind off the back the alarm clock had caused, Marik pulled at the wild ginger colored strands that found solace beneath his tanned palm, lavender gaze narrowed sharply as he looked over at the woman sitting upon the bed, pulling her sheets about her as if she was ashamed or something.

Bah! Damn. DON’T BLUSH.

He could not help but smirk briefly though amongst his pain and murmur within his own mind: watching you sleep, sarcastically but knew better than to say it aloud, lest he be harassed with another inanimate object, just in case he looked around to be wary of any other objects in range of the irate woman’s hand.

“Calm down! You’re door was open! I thought you went out so I came in to see if you where back and then I found you all-“ He gestured to her for a moment trying to find words and only could say, “li-like this!”

Technically it was hardly open, but what did she know? She was sleeping! And Marik of course was known for his lies.

"I left the door open?" Isis repeated, a frown working its way across her lips as she thought about it. Honestly, everything between getting in the elevator and falling into bed was a bit of a blur, so it was entirely feasible that she had.

Since when did Marik check up on her??

"Oh..." She started to lower the sheet, ready to apologize for throwing the alarm clock at him, when she realized she'd almost forgotten something rather important.

"... Marik! Turn around! I'm not dressed properly!"

Blinking a few times at her last words his face flat-lined and he slowly arched an eyebrow, a playful smirk crawling at his lips as he remained flush against the wall, leaning slightly and still rubbing at the sort spot upon his cranium. “Dressed properly? I don’t know what your definition of proper is exactly but I think you look fine!” He flailed a hand at her then crossed his arms.

“Don’t see why you would want to cover up, unless you are trying to hide something.”

Like you are gaining a little weight there nagging-sister? He internally mused and peered over at her, eyes trailing on her face.

"Not in my nightclothes!" Isis elaborated, but somehow she doubted she was going to get him to leave. Well, fine! There was no way she was going to change in front of him! She'd change in the bathroom. So much for her quiet time.

She stood from the bed, tugging the sheet with her, a flush working its way over her face. "I'm not hiding anything," she muttered, heading for her suitcase and throwing it open, trying to ignore the fact that he was watching her.

Watching her walk off, he candidly follower her steps with his gaze and purred in that playful manner he was known so well for. “Are you sure? You seem rather disheveled about it all, not as composed as you normally are.” A dark chuckle escaped his throat as he carefully stood, the room spinning a little before he leaned against the wall again and let his eyes squeeze shut before opening them again, getting use to the height chance.

Nonetheless, he pressed forward, shoving his hands in his pockets and walking further into the room picking up a pillow off the floor and throwing it onto the bed, “Maybe you are trying to hid little secrets about yourself…no need to be insecure about it dear Kâhinah.”

Isis bit her lip at his words, but did not answer. Instead she pulled a clean dress from her suitcase and turned -- except he was now between her and the bathroom.

He was right, she had been keeping a secret, but she wasn't sure she wanted to tell it just yet. Yet on the other hand, she wasn't sure how long Marik and her brother were going to remain in the dark, no pun intended. Was it better just to get everything out in the open? But what kind of reaction would it bring? Especially from her family?

"I..." she hesitated.

I am so tired of keeping secrets.

Isis slowly lowered the sheet she was using to wrap around herself.

Her hesitation was unusual for her, and it was starting to worry Marik whom was very much use to the Isis that he had come to know since he came permanently into existence. This was a different Isis and he did not like it, he rather preferred the strong individual she had come to be and it was her whom he was attracted to, a certain pull to her, but right now, she was being pathetically weak, that was until she faced the situation and allowed the sheet to slide over her slender body, minus a small bump.

A midsection abstraction.

Don’t say it…don’t say it…don’t say it.

“Ah-well.” He gave a tilt to his head and stared at her for a moment, looking her up and down before taking a few steps forward. Was it weight gain? It looked a little firm to be weight gain.

Well, there was just no getting around it now.

"You're an uncle," she pronounced with disturbing calm. "Or you will be, in about 6 months."

Blinking a few more times he just simply stared at her, tensing up a little and narrowing his eyes for a moment, looking utterly confused as the words rolled around in his mind for a moment. “Wait-what?” He stammered for a moment and looked to her, taking a few steps closer, looking her up and down with a scrutinizing glance a few times then staring her directly in the face, pursing his lips before it all of a sudden hit him and you could certainly see it in his eyes.

“You mean…” He paused for a moment, not really wanting to say it at first before finally getting it out, “You’re pregnant?” His voice wavered somewhat in darkness, while inside he was screaming.

Oh god no. LIES LIES LIES.

"The proper response to that is 'congratulations', you know," the Egyptian woman muttered. "For goodness sake, you look like you've seen a ghost. Do you mean to tell me there's at least one idea in this whole world that scares you?"
