Bao has been especially cranky for the last couple of days because she's got a cold (again!), poor thing. When her runny nose first showed up on Thursday I'd thought that it was a side-effect from the flu vaccine, but it's been four days since the vaccine and her nose has just gotten runnier and the first coughs have emerged.
I'm not surprised, really, considering all the bugs she's exposed to at playgroup (where I have never seen a child wash its hands, not that there are the facilities for this) plus the ones her brother brings home from school. At least it seems like she's not putting random things into her mouth as often as before. Hopefully the less she does it, the more it keeps the bugs at bay, but it being winter, all the other parents seem to accept that the permanent runny nose will just be a fixture until March or April.
Added to this are her emerging incisors - her fifth and sixth teeth. I know the left one has cut but the right one still has a way to go. If I'd thought The Bun was uncomfortable when he was teething, I now know how easy we had it at the time. Bao is a drama queen compared to her brother when it comes to teething or little bumps. When the crank meter goes up, that means the teeth are coming in. When she is toddling around and has a little fall, she sometimes just loses her temper and will go limp on the floor, screaming and making it extra difficult for you to pick her up and comfort her.
I guess we'll give playgroup a miss tomorrow if she doesn't sleep well tonight or if she looks sniffly in the morning. It's pretty cold now too with La Bise blowing without respite, so maybe it's just as well that she stays in for the day.
health,
