A to Z: Tantrums

I've just finished a book called Can I Give Them Back Now? The Aargh to Zzz of Parenting, by Joanna Simmons and Jay Curtis. Again, another great book with a naff title to add to my list, which only leads me to conclude that by the time these writers finish writing the book, they're much too exhausted to come up with a halfway decent title. I need to read this book! I love what you've posted of it so far. They are spot on about tantrums... a tantrum-throwing child can be very entertaining, and even cathartic in a vicarious sort of way. But I'm sure I'll feel much differently when Ariella throws one in public.

It's always easier to watch a tantrum than to be on the receiving end of one! It's a rite of passage, as you will find out soon enough... :P

I need to check this book out too!

I really shudder when Sean throws a tantrum in public - which he has done a number of times, usually because he does not want to leave a toy shop or cannot understand why he has to let go of the toy in his hand. Now when he flings himself on the floor, I just give him a stern warning that we are leaving and when he eventually realises we really mean it, he will come running after me (with big fat tears running down his face) and the entire world staring at us with judge-y eyes. I reckon it's a rite of passage for all parents :p

Yeah, we've all been there with the loud explosive tantrums. I try to avert my eyes in sympathy when I see another kid having a tantrum - I hate it myself when the aunties all congregate to watch! Grr...
