It was a place no one would ever think of going. It’s far from the civilization a normal person knows. Deep in that certain forest, two souls are there, sharing the warmth of the place they had called their “secret base”. Filled with innocent thoughts, they always meet there playing their hearts out. Unconsciously letting time swallow their innocence, forming a certain emotion even they themselves didn’t know what. Those simple days had become their treasure which gave birth to a young love that they didn’t even think of. As a child, they enjoyed their time together in that one summer years ago…
“In this place, after we have fulfilled our dreams we will meet…That’s a promise…” The older boy said showing his pinky finger as a sign of their promise.
“Un! After ten years right? It’s a promise…” The younger smile happily and innocently before taking the latter’s finger in his own forming their little promise.
Ten years have passed. They had their own life, graduating from school and working in the field they have chosen. One lives as a renowned actor and singer. And one lives as a full pledge architect. Reaching their own dreams, there is one more thing they have to fulfill. The promise they have made which only the both of them knows.
Slowly but surely he made his steps towards that place. It was steep and he was careful not to slip.
“Ugh~ Why does this place have to be this high!” He complained while continuing his steps. Just a little more he will reach that place, he didn’t know why but suddenly his heart started beating fast. “Why the hell am I nervous?” he thought to himself “Ah! Maybe because I’m afraid of heights…” he shrugged and continued his steps, but as soon as he nears that place, his heart is beating faster. And then at last, after a long walk he reached it.
He felt butterflies on his stomach as he reached for the doorknob. His heart won’t stop beating fast, he reluctantly pulled it. He was welcomed with a wind that came from the window located just across the door. It was the same; it was still like that when then had left after they formed that promise. A small curve formed in his thin pinkish lips as he looked around, images from they were just little kids was there. Their innocent smile, their joyful laughter and their silliness, it was all there. Again he felt that warmth he hasn’t felt for so long. He sat on a small chair, looking outside waiting for that someone to come…
Nostalgia hit him. Standing in front of that small tree house where he used to play it was really nostalgic remembering his childhood with that person. He smiled when the time he first met that boy strike in his mind. It was funny, but he was sure this time that it was not just an ordinary meeting.
“Hmm, nothing changed huh?” He said to himself “I wonder how he is now…” Slowly, he helped himself going up those bamboo stairs which was really a hard work for him. “Haa~ sometimes I really hate being tall…” At last, he reached the door of their secret base. Being tall as he is, that place surely is small for him. Excitedly he pulled the door open revealing a beautiful sleeping figure at the window. A sweet caring smile formed on his lips. “He didn’t even change his habits…” he chuckled a bit as he approached the sleeping one. He stared at him silently. Yes indeed, he didn’t changed at all, but he became much more beautiful than before. He noticed the tiredness in the latter’s eyes and unconsciously caressed his face. Another smile was formed in his lips. He indeed loved this guy after all.
Feeling the warmth that touched his skin, he slowly opened his eyes and was welcomed with a warm smile which he always knew.
“Hey…” The tall and lean guy greeted with his bright smile plastered on his handsome face. “Sorry I’m late….”
“K…” A tear rolled down on his cheeks. “K-Ko-chan…” he mumbled as tears stubbornly flowed from his eyes. “Y-You’re always late!!!” He exclaimed and stood up from his chair.
“And you’re still short tempered and cute as I can see” He chuckled a bit looking at the fuming guy in front of him.
“Alright I’m sorry” He apologized his smile not disappearing making the younger pout with teary eyes to be exact. “Kei, I missed you” he approached the latter whimpering on the corner of the room. “It’s been ten years; I thought you wouldn’t be here…”
“W-why would I wo-won’t be here?” the latter asked. “I-it’s our promise to be here…” he mumbled.
“I’m just happy to see you here today so don’t sulk there” He patted his head lovingly and earned a tight embrace.
“I missed you Ko-chan! I thought you had already forgotten me, you were late for hours I thought you wouldn’t come at all!!!” he broke, his façade broke and he sobbed like a child. His cry filled the small room while Kota was just there soothing him to stop sobbing already.
“You were just like this when we first met, sobbing like there is no tomorrow” Kota laughed a bit still cooing the crying Kei. “Ne Kei, will you stop crying now and hear me out?” he said gently loosing Kei’s tight embrace. “Will you?” this time he wiped the tears away from his eyes.
“Un..” Kei nodded in response.
“Okay” Kota breathed deeply before staring at the latter’s eyes. Kei indeed become a beauty, who would’ve mistaken him for a girl if he didn’t know him. He’s too beautiful for him but…
“Kei..” he lifted the latter’s hand and placed it in his chest. “Can you feel it?”
“Yep” the latter answered. “What’s wrong, are you feeling sick?” he asked worriedly.
“Nope” he shakes his head “Do you know the reason why it beats?”
“Because you’re alive?” Kei tilted his head getting all confused. Upon hearing that answer Kota sniggered.
“Silly, you’re wrong…” He smiled sweetly.
“Then what is it?!” Kei snapped.
“It’s because you’re here…” He said
“Huh?” Kei is confused again.
“Didn’t get it?” Kota asked and earned a nod as an answer. “Then…” Kota lowered his face to match Kei’s and brushed his lips to the latter’s soft one leaving Kei stunned.
“This heart beats because you’re the reason I am living right now, so will you marry me?” Kota smirked when he saw Kei’s color turned bright red.
“What’s your answer?” Kei didn’t answer but instead hugged Kota tightly as there will never be tomorrow. “I love you…”
“I love you too Ko-chan!” Kei said half shouting as he buries his head to the latter’s chest feeling his warmth all over his body.
That simple promise they made gave birth to at first an unknown feeling which eventually turned into an everlasting love. Time can never be a hindrance when true love comes. Because for those who love truthfully and honestly nothing is impossible, this little gift would be enough from the time they have spend apart. Destiny as it is, your Soul mate, you’re another half…
