tegoshi + masuda :: black coffee
They didn't buy it to drink it, because neither of them drink black coffee. It's too bitter for their tastes, and the closest they get are the canned half-milk, half-coffee vending machine drinks. But even so, every few seconds, as they walk down the street, the filled paper cup exchanges hands. And when it passes from Tegoshi to Masuda, Masuda to Tegoshi, their fingers brush, and it's a different kind of warmth than the kind the coffee provides. Once it losses its warmth, the black coffee will serve no purpose for them, and they'll give it to Shige, or maybe Ryo-chan, and find a new excuse to brush fingers every few seconds.
nyanta + wagahai :: awkward silence
Shige and Koyama are talking in the other room, Nyanta and Wagahai still in the living room.
"So," Wagahai begins.
"Yep."
"What's new?"
"Nothing much." Nyanta stretches and yawns.
"Same old?"
"As always."
"Cool."
Shige says something funny, and they both hear Koyama laugh.
professor!pi :: publish or perish
When Yamashita stands up, he bumps his desk, spilling a stack of books on the floor. He bites his tongue instead of swearing - the head of the department gave him a stern talking to the other day on that subject. He restacks the books, again, precariously on his desk. His phone beeps - it's time for office hours - and he opens the door, greeted by a small horde of undergrads, all wanting something. An explanation on the assigned reading, a recommendation, some one to proof-read a paper. Yamashita sighs and wonders when he'll ever get around to finishing that manuscript for the publisher.
