I Finished Season 2 of SPN - Yay!

Jul 31, 2015 01:11

We had no Internet tonight (until now) so I watched the final two DVDs of season 2. The episodes were Roadkill, Heart, Hollywood Babylon, Folsom Prison Blues, What Is and What Should Never Be, and All Hell Breaks Loose Parts I and II. I liked all of them.

ROADKILL - Loved that "House of the Rising Sun" was played. I liked Sam's explanation to Molly about why spirits exist. He almost made me a believer. Dean to Sam: "You're a walking encyclopedia of weird" because he knows so much arcane information. :) Also liked Dean's Haley Joe [Osmont] comment - he played the kid who sees dead people in The Sixth Sense. I was very surprised to learn that Maggie was actually dead. I didn't see that coming. I liked this episode a lot. It was a sad and beautiful episode, kind of a lesson in the importance of moving on from grief.

HEART - I love how Dean teases Sam about girls. Sam actually made it into Madison's bed; Dean must have been so proud of him. *snork* Too bad she was a werewolf though. Not many men can say they've made love to a werewolf. LOL I loved the actress who played Madison; gorgeous eyes. It was heartbreaking when Sam had to shoot her and I cried along with him. And Dean once again shed the "One Perfect Tear." In fact, Dean shed a lot of tears in the episodes I watched tonight. Another good episode.

HOLLYWOOD BABYLON - Lots of humor in this episode and Dean totally killed it pretending to be a PA on the movie set. He certainly took advantage of the craft table because he was eating a lot of the time. (Made me so hungry I had to go get a snack.) The movie crew were a fun bunch to watch, too. I smiled at the dig about "McG's dailies" since McG is a real producer on SPN. Caught the shout-out to "Gilmore Girls," the TV show in which Jared appeared. When they showed the "Hell Hazers" trailer that had been made for the movie, I thought something had accidentally ended up on my DVD. I'll bet a lot of screenwriters would love to be able to do what this writer did to get even with the people who had re-worked his original script. A fun episode with Sam and Dean walking off into the sunset...until it's revealed that the sunset is a prop.

FOLSOM PRISON BLUES - The thought of ever being in prison scares the bejeezus out of me so I found some parts of this frightening. Loved Dean's comment: "Who looks better, me or Nick Nolte?" Nolte's mug shot is one of the worst ever taken. Dean's line when getting spaghetti in the cafeteria: "I'd like mine al dente." LOL He sure likes to eat. He thought even the chicken dinner was good. Good episode.

WHAT IS AND WHAT SHOULD NEVER BE - What a fascinating episode! I loved the alternate reality that Dean experienced and the way everyone was acting towards him. Sad, but a very interesting episode.

ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE, PARTS 1 & 2 - True to the title, there was a bit of everything in these two episodes. I loved the use of music by the bands Boston and Kansas in these episodes. I liked Ava, Andy and Ash and was so sad that they were killed. Do they come back? And OMG! Sam's death was so sad. It was gut wrenching when Dean was talking to the dead Sam and tears were streaming down his cheeks. That must have been a very difficult scene for Jensen. And having to wait a week to find out if he lived or died must have been rough for viewers. I knew Bobby knew that Dean had made a deal with the Devil when I saw the look on his face when he saw Sam. It will be very interesting to see how Sam saves Dean from this deal.

I have one BIG complaint about the DVDs: The listed special features were NOT on any of the discs. I checked each disc twice. All there was were some commentaries, which I may listen to while re-watching the episodes. The DVD case lists the following special features: 1) The Devil's Road Map - An Interactive U.S. Map Guide to Urban Legends and Factoids Related to Each Episode. 2) The Episode from Hell - The Making of All Hell Breaks Loose, Part 2. 3) Jared's Original Screen Test for the Role of Sam. 4) Gallery. 5) Gag Reel. NONE of these features were on any of the discs, only some commentaries. Do any of you have season 2 DVDs and do you have these special features? I'm not missing a disc so I have no idea what happened. Does anyone know if any of these things are available on YouTube?

Edit: It seems I'm not the only one who couldn't find the special features. I went to a Supernatural forum and found several entries by people asking where they were. Lots of answers so I've now watched them. The gag reel is hilarious, but the boys are so funny that they're bound to be.
