Andrew Vanwyngarden.
What a fucking mouthful, he though, watching his pupils dilate in the mirror.
Never look at yourself in the mirror when you're droppin', they told him, it's fucking trippy.
But the colors and the fuzziness made him happy, not scared.
"Hey, man, we're up."
Ben's face appeared out of nowhere and looked at Andrew, "Fucking great. A show in LA and you're fucked as hell."
Andrew simply shrugged, "No one to impress, anyways."
----
All along the western front
People line up to receive
She got the current in her hand
Just shock you like you won't believe
the oh-so-familiar song played on and on as he barely even realized he was singing.
The acid was moving his body languidly, his mouth drooping down as he tongued the microphone involuntary.
The reflection of something shiny caught his eye and he looked at its source.
A girl, no older than sixteen, in the front row, eyes sparkling and mouthing the words.
I said ooh girl
Shock me like an electric eel
Baby girl
Turn me on with your electric feel
I said ooh girl
Shock me like an electric eel
Baby girl
Turn me on with your electric feel
he watched her, and despite his drug-induced haze, he was transfixed.
She wasn't a model or some famous socialite who usually filled up the shows, but a normal, pretty girl.
Her eyes showed pure happiness to see him.
Sure she was just another fan, face in the crowd, but her unaltered sense of being so fucking happy caught him surprise.
She wasn't here for his looks, his face, but for his music.
And he laughed, And I thought girls only wanted to throw their dirty panties at me.
----
She barely registered that Andrew was looking at her, until Steph shoved her.
"Oh my god, Andrew is staring at you."
True enough, he was, eyes squinted, mouth barely moving, but he was staring at her.
She kept on mouthing the words to the song she perfectly knew, a small smile forming on her delicate (exotic) face.
Plug it in, change the world
You are my electric girl
---
Just before the show ended, he tried to catch her eyes again.
He didn't and he watched her leave, jumping in her steps.
Fuck, dammit, he thought.
He walked off the stage, acid barely peaking and, spontaneously, jumped off and ran toward the exit.
----
She was sitting there, on a bench amongst the crowd.
She heard his name before actually seeing his face.
"Oh my god, Andrew. Oh my god!"
She turned and saw Andrew walking closer, running, really.
The crowd of fan girls chasing him and he quickly motioned a finger at her as he hid in the nearest alley, fooling all the girls in running the other direction.
And Rama, being Rama, followed his secret code.
He was huddled in the corner, pupils huge and mouth slightly ajar.
"I saw you before."
"Uh, yeah."
He looked at her, "Where?"
She finally understood, Pupils= drugs.
"At the show."
Realization slapped him sober in the face, "That's right. My god."
"What?"
"You were like my own personal hypnotist. What's your name, by the way?"
"Rama."
Not a mouthful, "Rama."
She nodded, hugging her coat closer to her small frame.
"Cold?"
She barely nodded.
"C'mere," he motioned for a space next to him and pulled out a cigarette box from his jacket.
He lit one and offered her one.
She took it, despite her age and nerves,s he inhaled the tangy smoke and exhaled.
"Did you like the show?"
"Mhmm, the music was fucking great."
"The music?"
"Well, obviously, I wouldn't just come too see you."
He took a hit and exhaled, "Brutally honest aren't you?"
She chuckled, "I guess."
"It's alright, I like girls that don't hide their fucking feelings."
She smiled and so did he as he took her small hand and placed it in his pocket.
He thought of a song and a certain part he always held to his heart.
There's a girl out there who's looking for it too,
She's not sure when she'll go or exactly what she'll do.
He finally found her, too.
"Let's get out of here."
We'll never feel so safe again, but love always remains.
