Odd thoughts. I was thinking about the door to door preachers I mentioned a long while ago, and how they had a lot of wrong assumptions, in terms of science facts. Which was a shame that knowledge blew a lot of holes in their foundations.
So. What would be interesting, almost daring, would be door to door scientists. That is, to spread knowledge about the scientific process. Of the steps of question, background research, hypothesize, test, analyze, etc. Demonstrate with things like how all objects, once air resistance is removed, fall at the same rate. Or teach about the changing understanding of gravity.
Even more so, to teach two important tenets of this method. First, that any theory is useful if and only if it can be tested/observed, verified, and repeatable. Second, a theory that accurately and repeatedly approximates observations for a given situation - even if it doesn't hold true in all situations - is valid, useful, and a good model for the specific situations.
Yeah, nothing will come of this, but it's nice to dream.
