Oh man. I woke up early (9:00 am!!!) to listen to Kisstina's radio show on
WBOR and now I have three hours before class. I dislike having that much time between things because it feels like a very long amount of time, but not enough to get things accomplished.
Yeah, so I've been back at school for a while now. Probably should have written more about that. Quick recap, but first something that I copy and pasted from my own facebook note:
RADIO SHOW. The WVKC schedule came out today, and I have two pretty good time slots. My solo show, WEAPONS-GRADE GERANIUM is at 7 pm on Friday. That's 8 pm Eastern if you happen to live in Frederick, MD or the surrounding regions (Brunswick, ME doesn't count as a surrounding region, but Kristina, this show's for you.) I know Friday is difficult, but if you want to listen to twee, black metal dance pop, campcore, masturbation threepeats or Elliott Smith marathons while you pregame, NOW YOU CAN.
My show with life-partner Matt Hundley is at 4 pm, 5 Eastern, on Thursdays. If you want to listen to the music Matt likes, tune in to that one! Just kidding, the show is called THE BEAST AND THE HARLOT and it's gonna be awesome. The name was my idea 'cause Matt didn't show up to the meeting and I had to fill out the whole sheet by myself.
MAD SHOUT OUTZ
Quiver, the literary magazine collective that I help edit, has its own show this term, at 6 pm on Monday. We will be playing music that fits with the genres of the magazines in the collective: science fiction/fantasy, children's, and humor. Mostly though, we will be reading stories aloud and performing spoken word. That show is called THE QUIVER HOUR officially but the real name is "Crazy Larry's Fiction Barn."
Andy and Rohel (aka Sasquatch O'Boyfriend and the Mexican Compatriot) are doing their first show ever this term and you should give it a listen. It's called THE KOQSAW VARIETY HOUR and it is at 12 am on Monday nights. Well, I guess Tuesdays, technically. You'll figure it out! They play metal and other noisy unpleasant things you might like. 1 am Eastern. (So I was privileged enogh to sit in and help out with their first show on Monday. The guys did a surprisingly good job for their first time, and started out with Rush's "2112". It was fucking epic.)
Cheers,
Ems
P.S. Remember, you can listen to WVKC remotely by going to www.wvkc.org and clicking on "Listen Off-Campus". Or rather, "Listen On-Campus" if you are on campus. If you have a radio and live in Galesburg, you can tune that mother to 90.7.
....
Okay. So Kristina just dedicated a song to me: "The Painter" by I'm From Barcelona! I love her so much. Also, Sweden will save our lives.
Things have been good here, relatively. The first day, my friends threw me a surprise party. That night was probably one of the happiest of my life, especially considering my fear that everyone would...
Wait a second. She's playing "Both Hands" for the last song? WHAT. Love her. So much.
...forget about me. That is, my fear that everyone would forget about me. (Sometimes, Matt and I read this girl's Livejournal posts out loud and make fun of them. Don't worry, it's none of you; I would never be LJ friends with the [former] most obnoxious person on campus. She constantly posts pictures of souffles all the time. It's not pretty. Anyway, we sometimes read her posts and make fun of them. Do you do that? I hope so. My posts tend to be ridiculous.)
So year. Happiest of my life. (Except for now, when I found that I have "Various Kitchen Utensils" by Skybox on my laptop. My Winamp crashed somehow, so I had to reinstall it and put my music back in, and in doing so, found these pockets of gorgeousness.) I'm finding great friendships in places I should have thought of earlier.
GODDAMMIT! Cafe Kyoko closed! Not that I ever ate there, but I worked downstairs for an entire summer.
Anyway, it's been generally downhill since the first night, but a very gradual downhill, so you can almost not even feel it. I've been spending a lot of time on porches, smoking and shouting at people. I've been spending a lot of time at meetings. There's a new crazy girl on campus who may or may not steal things; I talked to her yesterday for about an hour. TKE is on social probation, which means that SNu parties have become nigh on intolerable. Andy hasn't broken up with me yet. I haven't seen much of Brian at all, which is my own fault. I have a lot of ad campaigns to work on. I'm writing a paper on Pan's Labyrinth, either about mother/godmother duality or the role of the woods. Uh...smoking way too much upon realizing that the smoke shop here carries Fantasias and cloves, not to mention all of the hookah and other things. Kit's not here, which is getting harder rather than easier.
And oh yeah, we may be adapting "Titus Andronicus" into a one-act comedy.
