I really don't like the new rules for passports, those biometric ones. First you have to take a picture of you that looks scarily like one of these "Wanted - dead or alive" pictures from Western movie

I know the feeling. I just got myself a passport a few weeks ago and that picture - that's not me. Not a big fan of the fingerprint-thing as well. *sigh*
You plan any larger trips? For your work-trip I think the identity card would have been enough.
OMG - since when do they fingerprint at Disney/SeaWorld?! I don't like trusting the government with my fingerprints, much less some corporate entity. Do you know how long they keep them etc.? I assume it is part of some sort of "child molester/abductor tracking program"...
I am not a fan of this whole trend... maybe I am too cynical, but I just see it as another step towards governments having just a little too much information about ordinary citizens. And information is power... and power corrupts.
I can imagine. With your US trip you probably have to brace yourself for some more humiliation at the airport...
My identity card has expired - just realized that on Friday... And they don't recommend travelling there with just a preliminary one since several people has been rejected at the border.
I've not yet decided where to go for holidays this year, but since I haven't anywhere spectacular since 2004 I feel adventurous for this year. So far we're discussing Uzbekistan, Honduras and Indonesia. We'll see. Maybe it will first be for next year.
I'm just back from China and the officers at Beijing airport were scary looking! They attentively watch my passeport and frowned because on the picture I don't have my glasses on but when I have to stay 11 hours in a plane, I don't have my contact lenses on. They watched it, spoke in chinese and give me my passeport back. I had to evaluate them thanks to a button. Hell, they were so scary, I push the "greatly satisfied" button. I don't want to have some problems with them!!

Well, as long as they find some kind of excuse.
I really, really don't like the way we get more and more transparent and can't quite do much about it. Hmpf.
