The Music Industry is like a giant dumpster truck that swallows and grinds up every single decent band out there into a pile of ash and fluff. The people standing around this atrocious occurence are the "fans". the posers who love a band when they're in style and hate a band when they're old news. The people willing enough to love a band but unwilling enough to spend the time to put their cash to use and buy the cd and instead download at no expense to themselves but great expense to the bands that struggle to stay alive are destroyers.
The Green Day obsession is the final chapter in this. I hope. Green day was an incredible band. They still are. But the one thing they did wrong was mass-advertise. Now 11 and 12 year olds who've never spent a day listening through the cds, the many of them, even the entire american idiot album sit there claiming "american idiot and boulevard of broken dreams' are their all time favorite songs. Scratch that its not just the 11 or 12 year olds. Its everyone. The 11 and 12 year olds are tolerable only bcause theres no longer a huge race of Teeny pop phonies to worship. But its a sad day when you call yourself a fan and know nothign of the bands history. Previous singles. Etc. Ahhh. Will we ever see an end to this?
Another really frightening propostition is the ability of Rap to just take over. Swarm the music industry and consume it. Rap. a language mostly based on violence, hatred, drugs abuse and female degration when its gone? what will it leave? a crater. Thats all. Rap is a sad turn from something as awesome as the blues, jazz becoming so lazy as to spit out random words that rhyme to make some money. Eh who knows anymore. I give up. Makes my brain hurt.
