Tomorrow - June 27th - is
HIV Testing Day
Although one of the many things in my soapbox, this is one that I am most verbal about.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 40,000 Americans become infected with HIV every year.
Youth under the age of 25 represent fifty percent of those new HIV cases.
An estimated 180,000 to 280,000 people in the United States are HIV-positive but unaware of their status.
To find out where you can get tested For more information about HIV, you can call the CDC Info line (formerly called the CDC National AIDS Hotline) at:
1-800-CDC-INFO (1-800-232-4636)
TTY: 1-888-232-6348
In English, en Espanol
24 Hours/Day 365 days/year
or contact your state HIV hotline.
There are also plenty of websites that provide information on HIV as well as other STIs.
ASHA is a good one to start with.
Get tested. Know your status.
