[The video shows Reid poking at the device, pushing buttons. His brow is furrowed and his bangs are definitely in his eyes. There seems to be a slight tic, his eyebrows knitting together and then relaxing repeatedly, as he attempts to figure out what's going on here.]

Well, um, speculation is that they cause what are called curses? Weird stuff happens, personalities change, love is conjured from nothing -- or hate...Haven't been here much longer than you. But there's pretty much a grab bag of them. Keeps life interesting.

And people make offerings to the deities, apparently. So...blind faith? Not mine. I'm not a faith-having guy.
