First Profile [Video] My mother warned me but it took no heed

[The video shows Reid poking at the device, pushing buttons. His brow is furrowed and his bangs are definitely in his eyes. There seems to be a slight tic, his eyebrows knitting together and then relaxing repeatedly, as he attempts to figure out what's going on here.]

Reid? It's Morgan. Where are you?

M-Morgan? I'm--I'm at th-the Welcome Center? I-its--when did y-you get here?

[bloodcakedarmor]

Just stay there. I'm on my way to you. Are you alright?

Y-yes. I'm fine.

Five minutes later, Derek is in the welcome center doors, looking Reid over to first make sure he's real and then to make sure he isn't hurt and then to engulf him in a big Derek hug. What? He hasn't seen ANYONE from home in a long, long time. "Hey. You're here."

Then he steps back, looking completely cool and collected again. "This is the City. Some weird place that pulls random people in."

Reid is a little taken aback by the hug but he's panicked enough that he hugs back as well after a few seconds. When Derek steps back, reid runs his hands nervously over his hair. He's still not used to it being so short but he grins at Derek.

"Th-they mentioned w-wormholes."

"Worm what?" Derek shook his head. Whatever that was it was a Reid thing that had him thoroughly confused. "I don't know what it is but we're here and it's just like a city and we can't get out unless these things called deities choose to send us back."

"Wormholes. It's a theoretical means of travel through space from one galaxy to another." Reid's brow furrows as he listens to Derek then he nods. "Ho-ho-ow long have you b-b-been here?"

"Almost five months. And I'm not sure it's another... galaxy." Yeah, he feels like a nerd just saying it. But okay. "More like an alternate reality or universe? I don't... know how to explain it. But you're here and I'm sorry you're here but at the same time... it's damn good to see you. I haven't seen anyone from back home for, well... almost five months."

Welcome to Spencer's world, Derek. "Fi-i-ive months?" Yes that is a bit of fear and panic in Reid's voice. Derek isn't gone in his world. "I j-just saw you."

"Really?" That's a relief. To know that it's true and that he's still there for everyone and his mom and sisters... somehow. Yeah it's also confusing and disconcerting. But still, relief. "Yeah it's crazy but... that's how it is. They say you go back to the same place you left if and when you go back so no time has passed and no one has missed you. Guess it's true. Look, I live out at the beach with some people. You should come with me."

T-to stay? [He looks back at the welcome center and then back to Derek. Room mates are sort of a foreign idea for him but then there was the bit in the guide about the ticking and besides the familiarity of someone he knows near by would be nice. He furrows his brow then nods]

Okay. I'll have to stop and get a night light. [He didn't care if he sounded 12. He couldn't sleep in the dark. He was scared of it and Derek knew that. He also knew that Derek probably understood why given the job they did]

"Yeah to stay. You need roommates or the ticking's gonna drive you crazy. I live with Mercy and Rebbeca. There's lots of spare rooms so you'll have your own space." Plus Derek wanted to watch out for Reid. He kind of made that his own personal responsibility. "A nightlight? Alright. We can get you one of those."

He just nods because in a new place, unfamiliar without a case to occupy his mind, the dark will be that much worse. Not that he'll actually sleep but he'll feel better anyway. "Two gi-gi-r-women?" His eyebrows are uplifted in askance.

"Yeah, they're both nice. You'll like them. And the house is big enough that it doesn't really matter. Rebecca's kind of a profiler like us. Only not BAU so it isn't so concentrated, I guess. Mercy's good with mechanics and stuff." Derek rambles as they walk. It was a lot of information to put out there and also a lot of information to absorb if you were new. "There's a police station here. Shops and a library and... it's seriously a city with something for everyone. Just... there are curses."

Reid tucks his hair behind one ear as he listens to Derek and follows alongside him. "Yeah I was reading about the curses, talking to a few people. They seem...interesting. Is there a pattern to them that you can see?"
