tcnj is unbelievable. only they could make me feel good and then much worse than i started after i read their garbage. now they have me writing an entry about 10 minutes after i JUST FINISHED ONE. i got a letter that we'll call "jeffrey" and an e-mail that we'll call "arnold".
Jeffrey starts: Congratulations on your solid academic record! Because you have a proven ability to do well in course work, we invite you to consider applying to become a tutor for the fall semester of 2005.
first of all, solid doesn't make me feel too hot. after they sent my daddy that letter about dean's list, this makes it feel like they doubt my ability to keep it up. obviously it's a generic letter, but still. i'm egocentric. and secondly, they imply that i've done better than well. why would you CONGRATULATE, as well as offer an opportunity to tutor other students at this "illustrious" college of nj geniouses, a "solid" student who - debateably - has done "well." bastards. and then...
Arnold begins: As one of the top scholars at The College of New Jersey you are receiving room and board as part of your scholarship for 8 consecutive semesters of full-time enrollment at the The College...
Thanks for the free compliment, but I'm aware of this. Not the top scholar part, but the rest. Not a news flash. Besides the fact that they feel the need to remind my feeble (but top scholar) mind just what exactly my scholarship entails, I need an EXTRA reminder that if I want to keep my guaranteed free housing, I HAVE TO LIVE ON CAMPUS. no shit tcnj, you won't pay for me and my friends to get a house? that's bullshit, i thought that was part of the deal. motherfucking cocksucker. wait, wait, the condescending reminder continues. it goes on to say that i also must follow the procedures to acquire a spot in the lottery and make a deposit. WHAT?! you mean I, a scholarship recipient, do not get priveleged treatment and i don't get offered a penthouse or at least an executive suite from president gitenstein herself? christ, and this is one of the top public schools in the country?
well if i had known that this was the shit that i was receiving, i would have burnt green hall down. where do they get this idea from? "wait, let's make sure that the scholarship fuckers that cost us money know that they are still students and the rules apply to them too." guess what... if we're supposed to be intelligent enough to have a scholarship here, don't you think this is somewhat stating the obvious to us?
once again, i apologize for the cynicism. i can't help it, it's in my nature. NOW i can nap before working and then diluting all that blood in my alcohol system.
