I got an apartment today in Chicago. It's on Division between Humboldt and Wicker Park, surrounded by numerous bars, very close to The Empty Bottle, and next door to a sandwich shop. Could it get any better? Sure it could: wireless DSL, it's a third story loft with massive square footage, only $300 a month rent, close to bus and train stops, and my roommate is a fellow Jew and California transplant named Sammuel Finkelstein who is a graduate student at Northwestern. I turn in my deposit at the beginning of November and move in during the cold, January month. This is such a relief, I can not exhale enough. Big city dreams of living in a loft in a hip neighborhood is becoming a reality.
