[Have a scrunchy face Reid for a second. He hasn't actually thought that much about it. He just does]

Uhm well...there are words that your brain will fill in whether you read them or not. Like The and And. You train your eyes to just skim over those. Most people read to themselves, even silently they're 'hearing' what they're reading in their heads. You have to s-stop doing that if you're going to read quickly.
