Here is the next chapter:  a major skeleton falls out of the closet.  (No pun intended).

THIS IS FICTION, but I hope you enjoy reading it anyway.

This is such an incredible chapter. I am salivating to see/hear what goes on at their therapy sessions.

I've often wondered, of course, what would have happened if Stu hadn't died. Would John have kept Paul in "second place" status? Or was Stu just a replacement because John couldn't have Paul? It better be the latter, and I want John to say so, over and over and over again.

On the flip side, I'm curious what was going on when the Beatles moved to London. This might not be applicable given some of the history you've established in this universe, but I'd like to know Paul's motivations in that time period. Granted, he was busy and excited meeting and interacting with all the movers and shakers of the time, but he seemed to spend a lot more time with everyone else than with John (outside of the studio). Was he just exerting his independence? Was he playing hard to get? Or, as my mind keeps niggling at the back in dark moments, did he actually prefer the company of all these other people over John? Even Cynthia says that when Paul came over to write with John, he was gone again as soon as the song was completed. If I were John, I'd certainly have been hurt by that (in addition to all the other frustrations he was dealing with then).

Anyway, that was off the current topic, BUT since they're discussing the past, maybe John could bring this up? :)

Not long now before we find out what happens in their first sessions back from the holiday!

I think we know what would have happened if Stu hadn't died. He'd already left the band months before he died, and had moved to Hamburg and was planning on getting married to Astrid. The Beatles went on without him, they got their record contract just before Stu died, and were on their way to the top. Stu would have been an asterisk to the story had he not died. His tragic death was romanticized and his importance to the band was blown up all out of proportion by Philip Norman decades later. But he would have been like all the other former band members had he lived - insignificant to the Beatles legacy.

Your points about Paul's declaration of independence once he moved to London are excellent. These are issues that John will need to bring up I agree. Lots of hurts going both ways!
