i was sitting outside of giant eagle eating my lunch of some tortellini salad (which tasted like ass, btw) and washing it down with one of those bolthouse thingys (which didnt. mango something-or-other) when out came the HUGEST BRIGHTEST RAINBOW IVE SEEN IN MY WHOLE LIFE. it was a double too, for a few minutes the second one was pretty bright too. id already been seeing them all morning in my windshield from the mist on the highway. it was really odd, half of the sky was clear blue with hardly any clouds and the other half was super dark stormy looking, it was split almost down the middle. in fact, when i was walking out of my house i only saw the sunny part, so when i rounded the corner to where my car is parked the gloomy angry cloud startled me.
what a kick ass way to eat lunch, sitting watching people walk out the door of giant eagle and stop in their tracks when they look at the huge awesome rainbow in the sky. i wished i had a camera. some guy with a camera-cellphone thingy yelled, "AHWHW, I GAWT A GREAT ONE!" good for you, random grocery-bagger guy! then some christian decided he needed to make a comment about "ohhhh, it must be a sign from God", and i had to bite my tongue to keep from saying out loud, "yeah, he's telling the gay folk not to give up all hope quite yet!"
also, for under $20 total, i procured a bike rack for my car, a califone record player like we had at school when i was young (only missing a needle and the cover..still, 2 bucks isnt so bad), carharrt hooded jacket (my new biking jacket!), 4 books (20 to 25 cents each), one involving lesbians for rachel, one about rules of protesting (60's era, its in real good shape though), the secret diary of LAURA PALMER (making that the second twin peaks book ive scored thrifting), and one pretty recent one (1999) on low light photography, just one big crease on the back cover, $22 retail. more? oh yes. 2 pioneer car speakers, look like 4 inch, and 3 shirts. i rule! and all this at one thrift store except two of the books which were from a library sale. i only have 4 dollars left for the other stores i want to hit tonight. first tuesdays at volunteers of america, have i told you i love you lately? because i totally do! we should make out!
