http://mspaintadventures.wikia.com/wiki/Eridan_Ampora [ Personality ] :
Much like the eleven other trolls, Eridan is associated with one of the twelve signs of the Zodiac. His being Aquarius. In association to that sign, he is definitely water based, being a seatroll and all. But not only is he a seatroll, he is royalty, a prince of the dominant Alternian race, and he lets people know it. Being the near highest on the blood caste hierarchy, he is rather full of himself and definitely shows it. In fact he puts it up on display and even charges admission. He is quick to rub his standings in the face of others and definitely puts on an ‘I am holier than thou’ act. Though, despite all of this, underneath it all, under this facade he shows the world, Eridan actually thinks staggeringly low of himself. His confident demeanor, his arrogance and everything he tries to shove at everyone really is just to cover his own deep rooted feelings of hate for himself.
What exactly started these feelings? Part of it is his utter desperation to not be alone. He wants, more than near anything else, to fill his quadrants. Trolls have four different types of romance, which trolls try to fill, sometimes purely out of the need to survive since by the harsh law of Alternia if they are unable to present the imperial drones two(One of love and one of hate) full filial pails with genetic material for the mothergrub(How trolls reproduce) they get culled on the spot. So trolls are pressured to find a mate exceedingly more than humans, but this only plays a small factor in Eridan’s quest to find love and hate. With Eridan’s perpetual self loathing, he constantly is seeking acceptance and encouragement from his peers. Wants someone to find the poor, lonely, pathetic prince important. Little does he realize though that it is his facade that pushes most people away. His self defense against the world, his shell, his protection is what makes everyone want nothing to do with him. With such a self righteous attitude, his peers find it hard to take him serious and thus make him the butt of jokes and just mock him. It’s a vicious cycle, one that he can’t see the resolve of, so in the end he just continues to grow bitter.
Which feeds into something rather important about him: his genocide complex. Before him and his eleven friends got involved in Sgrub he had planned his entire time around killing all the land trolls. Finding them to be nothing but filth and a plague on their planet. Despite the fact he lived on the land himself and having several friends that were land dwellers themselves, three in particular he talked to quite often. One for romantic advice, one because he actually had romanctic feelings for and the other for her mediating skills. To them, he’d say he wouldn’t kill them, but to the other seatroll, who at the time was his moirail, he tried to play it off as though it was all part of his grand master scheme to kill them all.
His facade forever resonating. He couldn’t show weakness. With being part of such a strong, hateful race there was no room for weakness, it was kill or be killed basically. But despite all this hate and turmoil the young prince faces, he is basically a misguided youth who just wants the approval of others, wants to be loved, wants to be important. He just merely goes about it the wrong way and is often seen as a tool or just an asshole and isn’t taken seriously.
Though, his ever present facade isn’t entirely ever present when push comes to shove. When he is actually confronted, on the receiving end of persecution, it crumbles away and he easily becomes a sniffling mess. Degrading himself and being over dramatic-which his over dramatics are always present with him as well. Just when his shell crumbles, it presents itself ten fold. His dramatic flare to his personality may very well have been influenced by his interest in Alternian history. He is basically a huge nerd about all the tyrannical rulers of troll society and loves to read on the wars of Alternia, which may have also been where he got the idea of killing all of the land trolls.
His love for the historical figures of trolls is even presented in the naming of his FLARP character. In fact, he named it after his ancestor, Orphaner Dualscar. Which he played this game with his once Kismesis(The quadrant of troll romance that is for unmatched hate with some mating fondness), where their rivalry included countless other trolls that they killed. Well, more accurately, Eridan killed their lusus-basically a troll’s parent, while Vriska(His kismesis at the time) fed the newly orphaned trolls to her own lusus. Neither of them thought anything of it, killing in the troll society is nothing if not completely acceptable. Especially if it involves higherbloods killing the low bloods. If anything, it is their duty to do such.
While Eridan exudes this way of mind, he is capable of remorse, often times regretting his impulsive decisions. Decisions are something he often makes on a whim and are the direct byproduct of his FEELINGS and EMOTIONS going rampant. So while he may mean well in what he does, he doesn’t often think things through, which leads to mistakes and often the image that he is an idiot-which isn’t true. He is definitely intelligent, just impulsive and has poor decision making skills.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Strengths: As flawed of a troll Eridan is, he does actually have quite a few strengths. One would be his determination, he is unwavering with it, once he has a goal in mind he peruses it despite what obstacles he might encounter. An example of this is during sgrub he spent the mass majority of the time killing angels, despite the fact Karkat told him how he didn’t think they were meant to be killed-he was dead set on annihilating them all and no matter what was said he never gave up. Another strength of his, which played into his massacring of angels, is his impeccable aim; he’s quite the marksman after possibly sweeps of hunting down countless lusii to feed Feferi’s own. He’s also quite fearless in a way, he goes into fights without much reluctance, if any at all and doesn’t sweat confrontation at all, in fact he’s often times the one seeking confrontation. Despite his rather foolish choices, Eridan is actually rather smart, he just tends to indulge in impulsive decisions based on his emotions at the time and not logic, this is something that will be touched more in his weaknesses.
Weaknesses: Lets start from the basics, Eridan is an under-confident, socially inept, douche. While he shows a pretty shitty convincing façade of confidence, the truth is he isn’t, which is a huge pool from where a lot of his other flaws come from. In his strive to be accepted, believed in, loved, etc, he puts up a façade to hide his lack of confidence, he’s a high blood so there for he must he strong and proud, but he isn’t. So he comes off more so as an asshole, than anything else. This is a weakness because it greatly hinders him making friends and socially interacting with people. He’s also very impulsive, while he is by no means stupid, he tends to run on his emotions and does stupid things on the fly. Such things leads to later regrets and further self deprecation. Eridan is stubborn, he won’t listen to you or change his views on anything-well he might but your argument has to be a miracle in it’s convincing because him changing his mind is a miracle all in itself. While this can lead into unwavering determination, it is also a flaw. Eridan is over emotional and dramatic, where as most people would react to things normally, Eridan drags it out in an emotional, theatrical way which is overbearing and annoying. Along with all of this, Eridan has a superiority complex and a genocide complex, both are really bad, but one is definitely more of a worry than the other. On top of it all, Eridan is a very angry and resentful person, he has a short fuse, however nothing to compared to Karkat’s, but it’s still pretty bad and leads into his violent behavior a lot.
[ Other Important Facts ] :
Eridan has an luminous science stick and it’s quite powerful. It was able to match and beat Sollux’s psionics, a feat even his legendary weapon, Ahab Crosshairs, couldn’t do. He also has a sylladex like the other trolls, an inventory system that uses cards for storage and what not. It rotates through items as new ones are captchalogued. We’ll say Eridan has about 5ish or so.
[ Sample ] :
Eridan’s cardiovascular system was pounding. He could hear the beats in his eardrums and could feel each pulse through his entire body. He was seething with anger and power and it was absolutely intoxicating. Moments ago, he had just murdered his first love and a very close friend after blinding his love rival. This wasn’t something he had entirely planned, having wanted to take Feferi with him to save her, but instead was the one to usher in the end for her. Despite all of that, despite how horrible that was… It was relieving in a way, he had felt a great amount of relief when he fired off that slithering beam of white science, a twisted sense of happiness grip at him when he saw her lifeless body collapse onto that idiotic horn pile. It felt good to strike back. It felt good to let them know just how serious he was.
But that was short lived, he had stepped on the transportalizer, he wasn’t where he expected to be. There wasn’t any dark, dreary halls, no over used grey metal that had plated the walls of the veil. It was beautiful really, where ever he was. Not to mention he was sopping wet! He glares around him, utterly flabbergasped at the high barrier that almost served as a sky that arched its way above him, keeping the sea at bay. The sea, that was definitely where he was, although it was perplexing why there was such a place like this under it, there should not be any reason as to why there would be need for an air bubble like this under the glorious and powerful sea. The question started to annoy Eridan, with a place like this, landlovers could probably survive the cruel depths of the beautiful ocean and that just sickened him.
It was then that he noticed something-it was in the shape of a starfish, but was obvious to him it wasn’t just that. Lifting it up further confirmed this and he rolled his eyes.
“What sort a fuckin’ computer..? Oh well, whatewer…” He starts to tamper with it, maybe he could contact someone, anyone-well not anyone. After what he did, it was obvious he definitely didn’t want to see another troll. They’d probably want to kill him after what happened, which of course wouldn’t happen at all. He was more powerful than any of them and he’d cull them before they had the chance. He didn’t care. Regardless, he messes with the computer a tad to send out a message.

[ Questions? Comments? Concerns? ] :
In canon we aren’t shown too much about Eridan’s wand, we know he can levitate with it, he can shoot concentrated beams as well as giant blasts, I guess I am concerned on the power of it and not wanting to make it too over powered? So any insight on what will be allowed from it will be nice, like maybe the restriction of the damage it can do on the surrounding area or if it can only shoot the concentrated beams or what not. Thanks!
