Lemme see...here's a recap and what's been done about it in the meantime (as in last 24 hours):
1.) CD ROM dead on computer
2.) Computer crashed.
-I will be handing the hulking beast of a tower (the computer is an old gateway tower from circa 1996. It was my first and only computer. It was upgraded once when there were Registry issues about 5 years ago) to great guy at work, Jim, who will be doing a massive overhaul and upgrading of both hardware and software. He's the guy that upgraded the beast 5 years ago. It's worked like a charm since last year when the CD rom went out. That really was the fault of the house remodel and the surge protector I had the computer on failing. Electrical surges do horrible things for computer. A huge surge killed the whole thing but my electrican (who felt bad about it) got it up and going again for free for me. He even bought me a new surge protector. Anyway, Jim will take care of it. VERY smart man and a wonderfully sweet person to boot.
So, progress: Outlook Improving.
3.) Gutters. Erg.
- As previously posted,
Irish_horse and I got a letter out to the builder and I also left him a voice mail last night about it.
-
Angstzeit giving much aid and information remotely. :)
progress: Mixed. Progress made, but who knows if anything will come of it?
4.) OSB in back porch sub-roof.
- I went home last night, got a flashlight, stood on a box and got a closer look at it. From my closer inspection it appears that the split came from the nailers (can't quite upgrade them to carpenters) nail gunning their nails through the thing and causing the edge part to split. Too bad it took them so many tries to realize they were going straight through the wood. snerk. Anyway, I inspected that outer edge of the roof for any signs of water damage and found none. WHAT A RELIEF!
progress: Encouraging. No water damage is good, however, per
Angstzeit's concerns, I'm nervous about potential water damage if ice damming continues (which it will in the winter unless something is done to correct it).
5.) My carpenter not returning my phone calls and the work needs to be done!
- I left him a voice mail last night and just got a call back from him a few minutes ago. He's been super busy but is still going to do the work. He's coming over next Tuesday evening to assess and measure and get a materials list going. He'd come over this weekend but he's going out of town. He's a good guy. I was just overly anxious and worried that maybe he was too busy to do my stuff and wasn't telling me (yes, I was getting paranoid).
progress: Ecstatic that he'll be over and get the odds and ends finally done!!!
6.) Boss leaving for new assignment.
- progress: We'll be a group without a boss for a while. His replacement hasn't been named or even chosen yet. He'll be in his new job (in a different city no less) by June 1. He'll be training the week
after Memorial day. Meaning: In 2 weeks it's bye-bye. Sign. He was a good boss. I'm almost afraid to see who's going to be replacing him. It's always tough when the one that leaves is good.
Overall, out of 6 issues currently named, 3 are in progress, 1 is a wait and see, 1 is a non-issue for now and 1 is just accept it and hope the new boss is decent.
bleh. i tired.
