Title: MatchMaker
Chapter: 7/13

Side Pairings: KangTeuk, KyuWook, YeMin
Rating: PG-16
Summary: They were known as the school MatchMakers; if you wanted a steady relationship with someone you’d love forever, they were the three to go see. But the MatchMakers can’t find someone for themselves! When a new student transfers in, will their situation change for the better... Or worse?
A/N: And another chapter! I've also got a technical difficulty. That vote I was taking last chapter? HenWook vs KiHae for my next fic? Well... It's a tie XP Soooo... I can either kill myself trying to write both at once... Or pick one myself I guess. So I'm thinking I'll write the KiHae one first, because the plot's more developed than the HenWook, so I have more time to brainstorm for the other, and the updates should be faster.
Despite all the new friends DongHae made at their school, life wasn’t perfect. He STILL hadn’t worked up the courage to say more than half a sentence to SiWon. “I think he’s a mute,” SiWon mused one day after DongHae practically tripped over both his and YeSung’s feet trying to get out of their practice room. That was enough to send HeeChul and HyukJae howling with laughter, and even KiBum smiled faintly behind one hand, as DongHae was anything but a mute. He just had a very bad case of ‘cat-got-your-tongue’ when he was around SiWon. HeeChul didn’t take long to figure out DongHae’s crush on the tall gentleman, when SiWon asked DongHae for help while learning one of their first dance routines. Another student named DongHee but who insisted they call him ShinDong had joined their group, and even HeeChul was impressed with the amazing choreography he had put together for them. Anyways, DongHae had stammered several times, opening and closing his mouth like a fish while trying to find words, and hurriedly excused himself from the room. And ever since then HeeChul took every opportunity to tease DongHae to no end.
SiWon wasn’t the only problem for DongHae though. Many of the girls in the school disliked him, for coming in and befriending all three of the matchmakers so quickly. Lots of them fawned over KiBum and SiWon on a regular basis, hoping that one of them would date them. HyukJae had a large following too, and even though every relationship he had been in was a massive failure, the girls were still ever hopeful. And DongHae managed to get all three of them hanging around him right after he arrived. The way KiBum kept his attention on DongHae at all times, how DongHae turned into a shy schoolgirl in front of SiWon, and how HyukJae and DongHae had instantly became best friends for life, did not escape their notice.
They were rather mean to DongHae. Slipping in snide rumors on him and his family, where he grew up, anything to lower the boys spirit. DongHae tried to ignore it the best he could, but some things were impossible to ignore. Like when one girl, at the urging of her friends, told her boyfriend that DongHae had tried to molest her on the crowded busses after school. Which was entirely not true. But the boyfriend didn’t know that, and sought DongHae out one day after school.
Poor Fishy didn’t stand a chance. He may be stronger than he looks, but there wasn’t much that could stand up to the captain of the university’s football team.
KyuHyun walked into the café where they worked, rubbing his eyes tiredly. He’d spent most of the nights watching over RyeoWook, who was slowly getting better but still nightmare-prone and weak. As a result, he missed on much-needed sleep, but thanks to YeSung and his limitless coffee supply was doing fine.
HyukJae was already there. He’d started at their café a few nights ago. He, KyuHyun and DongHae had all been placed on the same shift, and left to run the café by themselves with the manager coming in every hour or so to check on them. “Hey, you look dead on your feet,” The monkey-boy said, fixing up a cappuccino for a customer.
“Thanks,” KyuHyun said sarcastically, getting behind the counter. “DongHae’s not here yet?”
“Nope. Should be here soon though.”
Ten minutes passed, and DongHae still didn’t arrive. HyukJae glanced at the clock frequently. What was taking him so long? Since they barely had any customers later on during the night, he and DongHae had decided they’d go over their parts in the solo dance they performed with HanKyung.
Finally half an hour later, the door opened and DongHae walked in. HyukJae nearly dropped the cup of coffee he was holding, and yelped when the hot liquid spilled over his fingers. “DongHae!”
The boy sported a black eye, and his lip was cut and bleeding. He had fixed his hair so that it hid the black eye from view, but in the well-lit café it was clearly visible. DongHae smiled faintly. “Hi, sorry I’m late!”
KyuHyun took over with the customers as HyukJae darted around the counter to grab the boy by the shoulders. “What the hell happened to you?” He asked, brushing DongHae’s hair out of the way to see the eye. “A… Small misunderstanding?” DongHae asked, wincing a little when HyukJae brushed one finger over the eye.
“SMALL? Hae, who did this to you?” HyukJae was angrier than he’d ever felt before. And the way DongHae smiled and said that it was nothing, made him even angrier. Whoever had the nerve to do this to his Hae was going to pay. He had-
Wait. Double-take. HIS Hae?
Where had THAT come from?
DongHae shook his head slightly. “No one.” At HyukJae’s stare, he looked down. “I don’t know his name. But it doesn’t matter, okay?”
HyukJae growled under his breath. “I’ll get a description out of you later. Ice. You need ice for that eye. Lets go.” He took DongHae’s hand and led him into the back room. KyuHyun watched them go, worried.
They came back five minutes later, a pack of ice pressed gently against DongHae’s left eye. “Think I’ll scare away the customers?” He asked sheepishly to KyuHyun. KyuHyun chuckled, leaning against the counter now that no one was waiting for them.
“Okay, Hae. Talk. Who did this to y-“
“It’s HeeChul’s party in four days!” DongHae chirped suddenly, effectively cutting HyukJae off. The boy smacked himself over the forehead, marveling at DongHae’s lack of interest in his injuries. “I can’t wait! Who’s going?”
“Well…” KyuHyun thought. “HeeChul obviously. KangIn’s going, and KiBum said he’s got an idea of a match for KangIn, so she’ll be there too… If RyeoWook gets better he wants to come. ShinDong’s going, HanKyung… SungMin and YeSung… And SiWon.”
DongHae’s eyes widened… Well, the one good eye. “S-SiWon’s going too?” He exclaimed, flushing instantly. KyuHyun looked at him, amused. “Yes. I think it was a one-time deal between him and HeeChul.”
DongHae shifted from foot to foot nervously. “You okay Hae?” HyukJae asked. “Y-Yeah,” DongHae said, biting his lower lip.
“Aish, don’t do that! Look, now your lip’s bleeding again,” HyukJae scowled. He found a tissue and dabbed at the blood coming from the cut. DongHae made a face, trying to take the tissue away. “Hyukkie, I can do it myself…”
“Nu-huh, you obviously can’t take care of yourself so I’m doing it for you,” HyukJae scolded, avoided DongHae’s attempts to take the tissue away and continuing to dab away the blood. DongHae gave in with a soft sigh, watching HyukJae. KyuHyun watched them both with a small smile. It may have just been his imagination, but HyukJae’s actions looked more than just friendly affection. He shrugged his shoulders after a moment, returning to working the cash.

“Wow, is your clumsiness no longer just reserved for any room SiWon’s in?” HeeChul asked when they went to school the next day. DongHae flushed and looked down, tried to cover up his black eye. SungMin and LeeTeuk instantly created a huge fuss over it, asking DongHae if he was okay, and if he needed any ice, and who did it, and if he was traumatized for life… HyukJae finally managed to help the boy escape before he WAS traumatized for life.
KiBum frowned lightly when he saw the injuries, but didn’t say anything, just clapping DongHae on the shoulder. SiWon, to DongHae’s horror, noticed as well. “Are you alright?” The taller boy asked, brushing DongHae’s bangs to one side to see the black eye. DongHae wavered, then yelped he was going to get ice for his eye and took off like a bat out of hell, HeeChul rolling on the floor laughing as he made his escape. “What did I say?” SiWon asked KiBum, who sighed softly.
“RyeoWook!” YeSung exclaimed. The others turned their attention to the entrance, to see KyuHyun and RyeoWook walking in hand-in-hand. They were instantly surrounded by the entire group, YeSung hugging his small cousin. “So you’re feeling better now?” He asked. RyeoWook nodded. “Hyung, I can’t breathe.”
YeSung pulled away, chuckling. “Sorry.”
“It’s okay!” RyeoWook smiled. “I heard you guys had a dance group? I’m not that good a dancer, but can I join?”
“Sure!” LeeTeuk said with a smile. “Let’s see… That makes 12 members. Myself, KangIn, YeSung, HeeChul, HanKyung, ShinDong, SungMin, DongHae, HyukJae, KiBum, and you.”
“KyuHyun? You’re not in it?” RyeoWook asked his boyfriend. KyuHyun shook his head, smiling faintly. “I’m not that much of a dancer. I sing.”
“Then here’s an idea,” LeeTeuk said, snapping his fingers. “Some of us are good dancers, and some of us are good singers.”
“Actor,” KiBum put in.
“And some others just have no special talent whatsoever, HeeChul said, looking at KangIn.”
“Hey, I heard that!”
“Why don’t we do all of that?” LeeTeuk asked. “Be everything all together?”
The others thought about it. “Sounds good to me,” SiWon said, HyukJae nodding his head up and down.
“We need a name,” HanKyung pointed out hesitantly.
“H.O.T.”
“Already taken.”
“Light’s Shadow.”
“Doesn’t sound… Right…”
“HeeChul’s Followers!”
“I’m ignoring that one…”
“Super Junior?”
They all looked at RyeoWook, who lowered his hand quickly, surprised by the sudden silence. “Just an idea,” He said, half-hiding behind KyuHyun.
“Perfect!” LeeTeuk exclaimed. “That’s just… Perfect! What do you guys think?”
“Great,” HyukJae agreed.
“I’m in,” SungMin chirped, clapping his hands together.
“I still like HeeChul’s Followers better,” HeeChul humphed, folding his arms over his chest.
“HeeChul aside… Anyone else have objections?”
“Nope!”
“None…”
“Alright then, it’s set! We are Super Junior!”
