Title: There For You
Chapter: 9/13
Pairing: KyuWook (Main), KyuMin, YeMin
Rating: PG-16
Summary: RyeoWook and KyuHyun have been best friends all their lives. KyuHyun has a long-suffering crush on their classmate, SungMin, but never confessed, only telling RyeoWook. Unfortunately, RyeoWook is deeply in love with KyuHyun, and suffers under the knowledge that he'll forever be 'best friend only'. Secrets start to come out, and both their lives will literally turn upside-down
KyuHyun watched over RyeoWook all night. The smaller boy hardly stirred, fighting back a fever that hadn’t been there before. Concerned, KyuHyun had called in RyeoWook’s family doctor. The older man had examined RyeoWook for fifteen minutes while KyuHyun fidgeted nervously. “If it came on this suddenly, it must be his body’s natural reaction to the stress it’s being put under,” The doctor finally told him after they left the room. “The most you can do is make sure he gets lots of rest, drinks water and doesn’t push himself too hard for the next couple days.”
After the doctor left, KyuHyun continued to watch over RyeoWook. Thank goodness tomorrow was Sunday so they wouldn’t have to worry about going to school. RyeoWook slept peacefully until later that night, when he suddenly started tossing and turning, managing to knock his blankets off once more. KyuHyun, about to go to sleep before he noticed his friend’s antics, got up and pulled the blankets up around his neck again. RyeoWook whimpered a bit in his sleep, muttering to himself. Leaning in to try and catch what in the world he was saying, KyuHyun found his attention caught instead by the curl of RyeoWook’s eyelashes, and how his lips were slightly parted as he slept. They weren’t as pink as SungMin’s, but no less captivating.
Remembering the kiss, KyuHyun stood up straight with a jolt and left the room, shaking his head. “What am I thinking?” He murmured, falling down onto his own bed. Sleep, he thought firmly, and focused on the school work that still had to be done, rather than let his thoughts stray to the feverish boy lying in the bed a room over.

RyeoWook was wide awake the next day, wondering what had happened. The last thing he remembered was being in that tree, and seeing KyuHyun, both present-day Kyuhyun and a ten-year-old KyuHyun… A bit dizzy, he stood up and walked out of his room, glancing at the clock. 10 AM already? He had really slept in that long?
He found KyuHyun in the kitchen, cooking breakfast. RyeoWook came up behind him, and the taller boy jumped a bit when he noticed his friend standing there. “Oh, you’re up? Breakfast will be ready in a minute. You should get some rest after, you’ve got a fever.”
RyeoWook nodded, leaning over a bit to see what KyuHyun was cooking. It must have been just his imagination when he heard KyuHyun inhale sharply. “Smells good,” He commented, smiling a bit.
“Y-yeah. Go sit down, I’ll bring the food to you.” KyuHyun didn’t look at him. RyeoWook frowned, but did as he was told. Why was KyuHyun acting so distant all of a sudden? Had he done something wrong? He pondered this, watching KyuHyun move about the kitchen. Soon he returned with the food, sitting down across from RyeoWook.
Eating in silence, RyeoWook continued to watch KyuHyun. The younger boy was avoiding eye contact. Confused and a bit hurt, RyeoWook opened his mouth to ask what was wrong, then closed it again without a word, returning to his food.
Getting up to do the dishes, KyuHyun finally snapped back to reality and took the plate out of RyeoWook’s hands. “I’ll do these. You go get some rest,” He said firmly. RyeoWook nodded. “Alright.”
Going back into his room, he sat down on his bed and tried to figure out exactly what he had done to anger KyuHyun. This hadn’t happened before… Not from what he could remember, anyways. Had something happened when he passed out? Had he said something in his sleep? Or was it something even before all that happened?
He sat there for a good half hour, listening to KyuHyun finish the dishes and go into the bathroom and taking a shower, thinking about what he might have done. He didn’t like the idea of Kyuhyun being mad at him, and wanted to know why. He also wanted to know why it was he kept having these weird reactions to Kyuhyun’s voice, and presence. Whenever his roommate was near, he always felt so happy… And at the same time, his heart would hurt so much he thought it would explode in his chest. And some other times, it was his head that would hurt. It was over a month now since he had first woken up in the hospital with no memories, and he wished more and more with each passing day that he’d get them back.
After some time, he noticed that with his fever and the warm air in his room, his shirt was stuck to his body, and he was a bit sweaty. Making a face, he stood, figuring a shower would make him feel better and clear up his thoughts a bit. Grabbing a change of clothes, he padded across the hallway, nudging the bathroom door open with one foot. He hadn’t heard the shower still running.
Stopping dead in his tracks, he felt a flush cover his face, nearly dropping his clothes. KyuHyun was in the shower still, back to him, water dripping down his athletic body. He hadn’t noticed RyeoWook come in, so the smaller boy forced his eyes away from the figure and retreated to his room.
Dropping his clothes on his bed, he winced as pain stabbed through his head again. He couldn’t get the image of KyuHyun in the shower out of his head, and for some reason he felt an incredible sense of déjà vu. He was dizzy, head and heart suddenly in pain beyond belief.
KyuHyun… Why does it hurt? Why do I feel so happy and pained at the same time whenever I see you? What happened? What happened, KyuHyun?
Searching for something, anything to distract him from those thoughts and take away the endless pain, RyeoWook began to rummage blindly through the desk drawers, looking through the stacks of papers for something to catch his attention. He felt so dizzy, and his vision was starting to go again…
His hands closed around a small shape at the bottom of one drawer, and he pulled it out. A cell phone? This must be his… The one KyuHyun said he must have misplaced the day before he ended up in the hospital. Attention caught, he sat down on his bed and flipped the phone open.
One missed call. One new voicemail.
The date was when he had woken in the hospital… Frowning, he clicked the button to listen and held the phone to his ear.
/RyeoWook, I’m so sorry. I never meant to hurt you like that. I didn’t know you loved me that way. Please, come back home and we’ll talk this out. I can’t stand it, knowing you’re so upset because of me. Come back soon./
The phone dropped from his limp hand, the screen chipping slightly as it crashed to the floor.

KyuHyun toweled off his hair, lost in thought. He loved SungMin, so why did he suddenly have such strange feelings towards RyeoWook? Could it be he was falling for two people at the same time? That wasn’t good… What in the world was he supposed to do?
Pulling on his pants, he was startled out of his thoughts by a sudden scream. “RyeoWook?” KyuHyun called, wondering what had happened. There was no reply. “RyeoWook, is everything okay?” Not bothering to pull on his shirt, he ran out of the bathroom and tracked his roommate down, in his room.
RyeoWook was curled up on the bed, trembling from head to toe. KyuHyun could hear him sobbing, “It hurts, it hurts…” And it didn’t take him long to notice the chipped phone on the ground. So Wookie had found it?
With a jolt, he remembered the message he had left on the phone over a month ago. “Oh no…” Putting two and two together, he rushed to RyeoWook’s side, sitting down and pulling the boy into his arms. RyeoWook wouldn’t stop shaking, and from the look on his face he was in a lot of pain.
“Shh, it’s okay, I’m here for you,” KyuHyun said softly, stroking RyeoWook’s soft hair as his best friend fought against the onslaught of memories. The doctors had said that remembering it all at once would be too much for him to handle, and from how RyeoWook seemed to be shaking himself to pieces, they had been right.
Then RyeoWook started to struggle against KyuHyun, trying to break free. KyuHyun didn’t let him, seeing the tears streaming down the boys angelic face. “RyeoWook! It’s okay, calm down. Everything’s going to be alright… Please…” He pleaded with the boy, trying to get him to relax.
After a minute of struggling, RyeoWook suddenly stopped, slowly going limp in Kyuhyun’s arms. Looking down at him, Kyuhyun saw RyeoWook was still conscious, though barely. He stared at the wall through teary, half-closed eyes, struggling to breathe. “RyeoWook?”
