I think now that I've aged I've figured out the equilibrium to obtain a net benefit whenever my mother's involved in something.
For example, Sunday morning:
Lauren's Mom: What do you want for dinner tonight Lo?
Me: Uh... I don't know if I'm going to be here
LM: Are you having dinner with someone else?
Me: No, I just have to clean my apartment
LM: So do it after dinner
Me: Uh... I don't think there's going to be enough time
LM: Why's that?
Me: It's REALLY messy.. like I haven't cleaned post exams and general term yet
LM: Do you want me to help?
Me: Well sure but even if we have an early dinner it's not going to cover everything
LM: So we'll start earlier!
Me: Okay..
LM: Do we need to start now?
Me: Well.. let me finish my tea first
8 hours later my apartment is clean. REALLY Clean. Cleaner than you could possibly imagine having seen it before. She even helped me take the 30 some odd wine and liquor bottles to the beer store. Go mom.
Only problem with working that hard is now I've got a cold. A bad cold that's really localized so it feels like there's a knife stabbing me in the back of my left eye. Hopefully the swelling will go down by the time I have to play Strauss' Don Juan tomorrow but I doubt I'll be making the trek to school until the proposed orchestral reading session begins as even singing the added lyrics "Don JUAN! Gets laid more than I do!" in my brain hurts.
