Author's note: yeah, i've never written OT3/poly/abo fics before. So if it’s lacking I am sorry for that. It is also a bit rushed (again sorry) but dear recipient I do hope you enjoy this. I really enjoyed writing it :) (ps. I do want to write more for it)

“You sure your mate is going to be okay with you going out tonight?” Jongdae teased. Chanyeol rolled his eyes.

“He hasn’t claimed me,” Chanyeol said as he checked his appearance one last time in the mirror. He fixed his silver hair once last time before the pair left.

It was Baekhyun’s birthday tonight. He had gotten his friend to help him get reservations at one of the posh lounges that Jongin had taken him to once. Chanyeol definitely wasn’t fond of it as it was too high-brow for him. The only reason that he had agreed to go, other than the fact that it was his friend's birthday, was because Baekhyun mentioned in passing that Kyungsoo was going to be there.

Kyungsoo was this unforeseeable force in Chanyeol’s life that had seemingly drawn him toward the alpha. They had met at Baekhyun’s birthday last year. It had taken Chanyeol off guard when he first saw the alpha. He was shorter than Chanyeol, as are most. It was his scent, mostly, that drew Chanyeol’s attention.

He had seen the other multiple times throughout the past year. Sometimes, Chanyeol had just missed running into him and all he got was his scent.

Chanyeol craved to see Kyungsoo, like a thirst that couldn't be quenched.

It had been a couple hours into the night. Chanyeol had greeted Baekhyun and got himself several drinks. But still no Kyungsoo. He was doing his best not to outright search for the alpha in this mess, but Jongdae had caught him a couple times.

“Who are you looking for?” Jongdae had asked him. After the fourth time, Chanyeol searched around.

“What? No one,” Chanyeol had said.

“Mhm, you’re looking pretty hard for something.”

Chanyeol was now standing, waiting for Jongdae to return with more beer. Speaking of, he was returning but not only with beer. He brought over Sehun. He handed one of the beers over to Chanyeol. They started up a conversation about work when Baekhyun tumbled into them.

“Oops, sorry guys,” Baekhyun slurred. “People, um. They, um. Keep feeding me drinks?”

The trio laughed briefly until they all became serious. Sehun and Chanyeol locked eyes in a silent battle of who was going to take Baekhyun home. But it was Jongdae who sighed.

“It's fine,” Jongdae said. “I'll take care of him.”

It was a good thing that Baekhyun was a beta or else, Chanyeol could only begin to imagine the amount of alpha's that would be trying to mount him. Though, they were all surrounded by friends, Chanyeol knew the looks of hungry alphas. Tonight alone, Chanyeol had caught four- no, five- alphas who have eyed Baekhyun. Even now, Chanyeol could feel a pair of eyes on him. He tried to ignore it and went back to his conversation with Sehun.

But he barely got a few words out because when he took a breath he smelt something he had be waiting for all night.

Pine and snow.

Chanyeol turned his head and--

“You're here?” Chanyeol said. He couldn't help the smile rise in his face. “I didn't even…”

Smell you. He probably shouldn't say that.

“You didn't even what?” Kyungsoo smirked. He was already close, but he leaned closer to Chanyeol and whispered, “Catch my scent?”

Chanyeol's took a sip from his beer as Kyungsoo leaned away and kept the smirk on his face.

“I think I'll just catch you later, Chanyeol,” Sehun said, clearing his throat. Blush rose to Chanyeol's face as he realized Sehun was still there and witnessed Chanyeol's crush on Kyungsoo. Thankfully the other didn't scold him or eye him in any way. Maybe Sehun understood? Did Chanyeol even understand?

“Oh, okay,” Chanyeol said. “See you.”

“Kyungsoo, always a pleasure,” Sehun said. Kyungsoo nodded his head towards Sehun as he departed.

Now that Chanyeol was alone with Kyungsoo he felt himself grow a little more nervous.

“How have you been?” Kyungsoo asked. His gaze had softened. Kyungsoo had reached out had hand and placed it on Chanyeol forearm, that held the beer. “Has your mate been treating you well?”

“He hasn't claimed me,” Chanyeol said. Even though that seemed to be his default response Every time, he really wanted to make sure that Kyungsoo knew that he wasn't mated. “We're just promised, is all.”

Kyungsoo smiled softly at him, which made him feel like jello. He wasn't sure, maybe it was just the alcohol, but his legs seemed to be shaking. Kyungsoo must've taken note as he gently led Chanyeol towards a loveseat.

The Omega in Chanyeol made him want to snuggle closer to the male. But he shouldn't, couldn't.

“That's wonderful to hear,” Kyungsoo said. Chanyeol felt him press a little closer. “It would be such a shame to hear that you were taken.”

Chanyeol opens and closed his mouth like a fish, before smiling. He liked when Kyungsoo flirted with him. He liked it a lot.

Kyungsoo smiled back. “If you keep smiling like I might just claim you before your mate gets a chance too.”

At this Chanyeol dropped his smile and smirked. “I would like to think you would have more class.”

“Oh, I do,” Kyungsoo said. “That's why I'll slowly make my presence known. He should've marked you, before you left. Or classy people like me might move in.”

Chanyeol liked the idea of Kyungsoo and Jongin competing over him, who could out court the other. That much attention by two outstanding alpha's made Chanyeol's omega blood curl in excitement. Having Jongin and Kyungsoo love him… To have both strong alphas on either side of him, each loving him in their own way.

Chanyeol could only wish.

----

The next day, Chanyeol frantically got ready for his brunch date with his promised mate. He didn’t have time to take a shower, though, so he was sure he still smelt like alcohol and smoke. Luckily, however, Jongin had chosen a spot that was relatively closer to Chanyeol's apartment. He had gotten back late last night after spending the rest of the night with Kyungsoo. Nothing happened between them. Nothing ever did. As much as Chanyeol wished it did.

Jongin was already sitting down by the time Chanyeol arrived. The hostess directed him to where Jongin was. When Chanyeol saw him, a smile appeared on his face.

Jongin was staring out the window. He was resting his hand on his head. The way the light poured into the room and onto Jongin sun-kissed skin made Chanyeol’s heart stammer.

Chanyeol continued to approach and he noticed Jongin’s face scrunched up in confusion. When he turned his head, he still looked confused. This made Chanyeol drop his smile. Jongin usually gave him a small smile, a contrast to Chanyeol’s wide one.

“What’s that smell?” Jongin asked as Chanyeol sat down. Chanyeol sniffed the air around him and wasn’t sure what Jongin was talking about. The only thing that caught his nose was of jasmine and ember, Jongin’s scent.

“What smell?”

“I smelt it as soon as you walked closer,” Jongin said. He eyed Chanyeol cautiously. He knew it wasn’t his clothes, as he changed them before he left his apartment. He sniffed his skin. He smelt pine and snow. Kyungsoo.

Chanyeol had locked eyes with Jongin as he lowered his arm.

“Why has an alpha scent marked you, Chanyeol?” There was a flash in Jongin’s eye as he asked that question.

Chanyeol wasn't able to answer the question as the waiter arrived to inquire about their choices. Jongin also didn't bring it up, which Chanyeol supposed was a good thing. They both hated making scenes.

During the tense brunch, Chanyeol tried to remember at what point during the night Kyungsoo had marked him. Was when they were sitting together? No, there wasn't any skin contact then…

It was when Chanyeol had to leave. Kyungsoo had shown him to the door but before they departed Kyungsoo had snuck his fingers under Chanyeol's shirt to graze his wrist.

Pine and snow.

It was such a wonderful mix of scents. Jongin's was wonderful as well, jasmine and ember.

It wasn’t that Chanyeol hated Jongin. No, in fact, Chanyeol was developing feelings for him. The attentiveness and carefulness that Jongin brings are what every omega hopes to have. Chanyeol was so lucky that Jongin was promised to him. He knows that. But Kyungsoo. Kyungsoo was also attentive towards him. Kyungsoo made him nervous and giddy. Jongin, though promised, made him feel secure.

Both made him feel safe.

It was selfish of him to think. If only, he could love both of them.

“Do you care for him?” Jongin asked when they arrived in the safety of Chanyeol’s apartment, after their brunch. Jongin had already removed his shoes and took several steps into the apartment. Chanyeol had just finished taking off his shoes when Jongin asked.

“I care for you,” was his response. His voice was tight. But Jongin turned and shook his head.

“Do you care for him?”

Chanyeol opened and closed his mouth. He knew there was no point in lying.

“Yes. But I also care about you,” Chanyeol took several steps towards Jongin. He felt guilty, he really did. “Since you've been courting me, I haven't cheated on you.”

“Neither have I,” Jongin said. “But him marking you with his scent, might as well be cheating.”

Chanyeol felt his heart drop. He looked down toward the ground. That was probably one of the worst things to hear from his promised mate. It made Chanyeol feel like he was a terrible omega.

His phone started to ring. It was an unknown number.

“Answer it,” Jongin said as he walked further into the apartment and ran his hand through his hair. He used his alpha tone, one that made Chanyeol’s blood curl. In excitement and fear.

“Hello?”

“Chanyeol?” It was Kyungsoo.

Chanyeol turned away and whispered into the phone. “How did you get my number?”

“I asked Baekhyun. Is everything okay?”

“No, um--” Chanyeol looked toward Jongin who was already watching him.

“Is that him?” Jongin sneered as he walked towards Chanyeol again. Jongin was starting to let his alpha pheromones out. Though, Chanyeol was taller than Jongin, he felt himself shrink. Jongin held his hand out for the phone. Chanyeol put it in his hand.

“Is this the alpha that marked my mate?” Jongin growled into the phone.

Chanyeol strained his ears to hear what Kyungsoo's response was. All he could make out was: not yours.

This response brought an anger to Jongin that he had never seen before. As terrifying as it was to see, it was also extremely attractive. Chanyeol was happy that Jongin was angry that another alpha was marking him. It was a challenge, one that Jongin was ready to fight.

“...If you think you can mark him without repercussions, you are gravely mistaken.”

As attractive as it was, Chanyeol also feared for Kyungsoo. He would hate himself knowing that Kyungsoo got hurt because of him.

“I'm sure you can follow your own scent,” Jongin said ending the phone call. Chanyeol wasn’t sure what Kyungsoo had said for Jongin to end the conversation in the way. But when Jongin pushed Chanyeol against the nearest wall, he forgot about Kyungsoo.

Chanyeol bared his neck as Jongin growled. Chanyeol whimpered. His alpha was mad.

Jongin started to kiss Chanyeol’s neck, nipping here and there. Jongin pushed his body against Chanyeol’s. One of Jongin’s hand were at Chanyeol’s lower back, pushing him closer. The other was on the back of Chanyeol’s neck. Chanyeol had placed his hands on Jongin’s waist, he had a firm grip on his shirt.

“Alpha,” Chanyeol whispered. Jongin removed his lips from Chanyeol’s neck and turn his head towards his. Jongin brought their lips together. Chanyeol raised his arms and snuck them through the gaps between their bodies so he could wrap them around Jongin’s neck.

Jongin pushed his tongue through Chanyeol’s lips. Chanyeol moaned into the kiss.

This must’ve pulled Jongin out of whatever his alpha instincts told him to do. Jongin pulled away from the kiss and locked eyes with Chanyeol. Both were breathing heavily.

Jongin removed his hands and took several steps back. Neither said anything and Jongin walked towards the window.

Chanyeol took a deep breath to steady himself as a knock sounded on the door.

Chanyeol looked to Jongin, but he didn’t turn around. As Chanyeol walked toward the front door, he noticed his appearance in the mirror. His hair was a bit disheveled. Hips lips were red, anyone could tell that he had been kissing. He felt pride rise in his chest. He was proud to wear his promised mates scent. But knowing the Kyungsoo was coming over made him want to scrub his skin raw.

Chanyeol opened the door and Kyungsoo was standing several feet away from the door. Like he was anticipating an attack. Chanyeol was surprised that Kyungsoo even showed up.

He gave the alpha a small smile as he opened the door wider. He wanted to say something to him, but what was he supposed to say. Kyungsoo would've been able to smell Jongin all over him.

Chanyeol left Kyungsoo to take off his shoes. He heard the footsteps behind them as they stepped closer to Jongin. Kyungsoo's stopped earlier than Chanyeol's.

He heard a small gasp from Kyungsoo. This caused Jongin and Chanyeol to turn around.

“Kyungsoo?” Jongin said in disbelief.

Kyungsoo looked equally as surprised when he saw Jongin. Chanyeol look between the two.

Did they know one another? Chanyeol thought to himself.

“I knew I recognized that scent,” Jongin said.

Kyungsoo looked between Chanyeol and Jongin and laughed quietly to himself. “Well, fuck. It would be you wouldn’t it.”

To Chanyeol, it seemed that Kyungsoo was making that comment more to himself than anyone else. Chanyeol looked to Jongin but it was hard to determine what the alpha was thinking. Chanyeol was sure that he had seen multiple emotions pass over his face.

“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”

“Nothing,” Kyungsoo said. “You can forget what I said on the phone. It doesn't matter anymore.”

“It-it doesn't matter?” Jongin was angry. “I thought you said you want him as yours. I thought you said you were going to fight for him.”

Kyungsoo stayed quiet.

“How dare you pass out your feelings so easily and move on just as fast,” Jongin stalked past Chanyeol and past Kyungsoo. He shoved on his shoes and gave one last glance at Kyungsoo.

Chanyeol wasn't sure what just happened. But Jongin last words left Chanyeol feeling disheartened.

“Do you guys know each other?” Chanyeol asked, instead of addressing what Jongin said. He could pretend that the words weren't spoken if it meant that he could stay in Kyungsoo's presence.

“He never told you?”

“We agreed that we wouldn't ask about past… relationships,” Chanyeol explained. “Which gave us the freedom to do what we wanted until he started to court me.”

“Jongin and I had a fling a few years back. We started to catch feelings but then Jongin put a stop to it.” Kyungsoo smiled sadly. “After that I swore to myself that I would go after what I wanted, as long as they weren't mated.”

Chanyeol looked down at the ground. It wasn't uncommon for two alphas to be attracted to each other, but for them to have been developing feelings was as rare as a tanzanite. He couldn't even begin to imagine the amount of pain a rejection was to an alpha.

“You may not be mated to him, but I see how the two of you look at each other,” Kyungsoo said. “I can't do that to him. Not to Jongin. So, I'll stop. I'll...Leave the two of you alone.”

Chanyeol could feel his heart starting to break. He didn't want to look at Kyungsoo, he knew that if he did then he would break down.

But the thought of not seeing his face one last time would hurt a lot more than seeing it.

So Chanyeol glanced up and saw Kyungsoo's heartbroken face. His eyebrows were scrunched up and some tears were ready to fall.

Chanyeol, himself, felt his tears come.

“Why did you come here then?” Chanyeol said. He covered his face and fell to his knees. He must've been crying so loud that he didn't hear Kyungsoo approach him.

“Oh, Chanyeol.”

Kyungsoo gently rubbed Chanyeol's back. He used his other hand to remove Chanyeol's hand from blocking his face. At first Chanyeol resisted, slowly he let his hands get moved. Kyungsoo caressed Chanyeol's face between his hands and wiped the tears away. Kyungsoo leaned in and placed a kiss on his forehead. Chanyeol closed his eyes. He wanted to make sure that he felt every inch of that kiss. Kyungsoo removed his lips and left without another word.

----

Jongin arrived the next day, which woke Chanyeol up. During the course of his heartbreaking night, he managed to get onto the couch, where he cried himself to sleep.

Chanyeol looked at the face of his promised mate. He looked just as broken. Jongin took tentative steps as he approached Chanyeol. He sat on the coffee table. They both looked at each other both understanding what they felt.

“We...Need to talk, huh?” Jongin said. Chanyeol nodded his head. “I'll go make some coffee then. Go wash up.”

Chanyeol nodded his head again and watched Jongin make his way to the kitchen. Chanyeol sighed and got up.

He walked to his bedroom, just behind the dining room table. He walked into his en-suite and was baffled by his appearance. He looked like shit. His eyes were red from crying. There were bags under his eyes from the lack of sleep. His head was another thing of its own. It surpassed a terrible case of bed head. It took him about twenty minutes to make himself a little more presentable. There wasn't anything he could do about his eyes.

He made his way to the kitchen. Jongin was seated at the small two seater table the was against the kitchen wall.

There were two cups of coffee situated at the table. Jongin had his head in his hands. Instinctively, Chanyeol walked over and knelt next to Jongin. He took one of his hands into his own and placed his lips gently on his knuckles.

Chanyeol, as an Omega, always felt inclined to take care of his alpha. His?

Chanyeol never thought of Jongin as his own. Why now?

God, he hated himself so much.

Jongin looked down at him with a small smile on his face. He used his other hand to caress Chanyeol's face. Chanyeol leaned into the touch, he couldn't stop the smile that appeared on his face. It was relieving for him to have Jongin treat him so kindly, after doing what he did.

“Take a seat,” Jongin said as he slowly pulled his hands away.

Once Chanyeol was seated and they both had taken some sips of their coffee, Jongin finally broke the tense silence.

“Kyungsoo and I used to date,” Jongin said. “I'm sure Kyungsoo explained?”

Chanyeol nodded his head.

“We weren't together for long. I kept you a secret,” Jongin said. “I...Basically pretended that our situation didn't exist and then I started to catch feelings for him. But, I mean, it wasn't until Kyungsoo started to reciprocate them that I realized what I was doing was not fair to you. So I ended things. And I'm sorry that our parents were so cruel to you.”

Chanyeol vaguely remembers a time when Jongin had ignored everyone for weeks on end. Both sides of their parents had blamed Chanyeol for not taking care of Jongin.

“H-how did you know?” Chanyeol never told him what they said to him or how they treated him.

“Our sisters told me,” Jongin said. “It wasn't right for me to let them treat you like that, but I was so...Heartbroken, still, heartbroken. And then that was when I decided to start courting you.”

Chanyeol looked down at his coffee. It was already starting to stain the inside of the cup. Chanyeol took another sip of it. When he placed it down, beneath the swaying liquid, he saw the faint ring of a coffee stain.

“We met at Baekhyun's party last year,” Chanyeol said softly. “He was, no, is, something intense. He’s so different from you yet almost the same. And he treats me so well and his scent,” Chanyeol sighed. Jongin smiled softly. Alpha’s were able to smell other alpha's scent, but it wasn't nearly as strong as it was for an Omega. “We talked that night, and he's so damn charming and attentive. I don't...Know, I just was instantly attached to him.”

“He does have that effect on people.”

“I never once searched him out, we never did anything,” Chanyeol said seriously. He needed Jongin to know that. “But we kept running into each other throughout the year, and every time I saw him, I just...Fell…”

Chanyeol couldn't bring himself to say it.

“He still cares for you, you know?” Chanyeol said, as he reached out his hand towards Jongin. “Last night, he told me to would leave us alone, because he couldn't bear to hurt you.”

Jongin laughed. But it was a broken laugh. Chanyeol could see the emotion swelling in his eyes.

“Is it wrong for me to want him to continue?” Jongin said quietly. He had his head bent, facing the table. “Fuck.”

Chanyeol turned his head down as well. “Is it wrong for me to wish that I could love the both of you?”

Jongin squeezed his hand tightly. I love you too. Jongin hand seemed to say as the pair raised their heads and locked eyes. They had never said it to each other before, and Chanyeol knew it was going to take more time before either of them could express their feelings.

And Chanyeol was okay with that.

----

Chanyeol was resting at home, Jongin had told him that he was coming over, so he was waiting for the latter to arrive.

Chanyeol had been debating since their talk to message Kyungsoo, to see how the latter was doing. But he decided it would've been better if he didn't. It might cause more harm than good.

It had been about a week since the situation with Kyungsoo happened. Chanyeol was able to tell that his relationship with Jongin had changed. They seemed more in love than they were before. But Chanyeol could tell that there was something missing for the both of them.

Ever since Kyungsoo said goodbye, Chanyeol felt bare, like he was sitting out in the cold with only a small fire, when what he needed was a bonfire. Jongin kept him warm and happy but, he needed, wanted, more.

He could tell that Jongin wasn't feeling a hundred percent as well. Seeing Kyungsoo opened up old wounds that, Chanyeol was never going to comprehend.

They both had to pretend that what happened with Kyungsoo didn't happen. And Chanyeol hated that. He didn't want to sweep Kyungsoo under the rug. He may have only been in Chanyeol life for a short while, but Chanyeol was never going to forget what the alpha made him feel.

Chanyeol was facing his window. Looking out that the buildings that littered the streets. It was a quiet evening, something that Chanyeol had longed for. Quiet. Peace.

He heard his door open but he didn't bother to turn and face whoever entered as he knew it was Jongin the moment he smelt the jasmine and ember.

Chanyeol closed his eyes and took a deeper breath. But what he wasn't expecting was the pine and snow that followed.

Pine and snow?

Chanyeol opened his eyes and spun around. He felt hope rise in his chest.

Both Jongin and Kyungsoo were here. Neither looked upset, which slightly concerned him but also made him happy to see.

“What?” Chanyeol took a couple steps forward but he ended up just sitting on the couch. “I don't understand…”

“I’ve been noticing that you haven’t been yourself, neither have I to be honest,” Jongin said. He scratched the back of his head. “And I knew it was because of Kyungsoo. And then I remember what we talked about last week,” Chanyeol nodded his head, showing Jongin that he understood what he was talking about, “So I figured, I should talk to Kyungsoo about it.”

Jongin approached him and took a seat on the coffee table. Kyungsoo sat on the other end of the couch, to give them space as Jongin continued. Chanyeol looked at Jongin confusion written in his eyes.

“I don't even know where to start,” Jongin chuckled as he took Chanyeol’s right hand in his own.

“And what did-what?” Chanyeol said. He wanted to ask them what they decided but he was afraid that it would be an unfavourable answer. He tried not to look over at Kyungsoo. The alpha was sitting several steps away from where they last saw each other. It brought a lump in his throat that he swallowed away.

“We…”

“Talked about our feelings,” Kyungsoo cut in. “For each other. For you.”

The hand that was in Jongin's grasped tighten at Kyungsoo's words, which caused Jongin to smile.

“I like you, Chanyeol,” Kyungsoo said. Chanyeol felt his heart swell.

“You already know how I feel about you,” Jongin said. Chanyeol nodded his head and looked away. He felt the stare of both alphas on him. The attention that he longed for from the both of them. He felt his cheeks heat.

“Why are you telling me this?”

“Because we also, clearly, still have feelings for one another,” Kyungsoo said. He looked at Chanyeol, like he was supposed to figure out his meaning. He did. Or at least he hoped he got the right interpretation.

Chanyeol tightens his grip on Jongin's hand again and looked at his promised mate. Jongin knew how he felt. Jongin nodded his head in encouragement. Chanyeol bit his lip and turned his attention to Kyungsoo, who still sat far from them. Chanyeol reached his left hand out towards him as a silent request to move forward. Kyungsoo briefly looked towards Jongin, who, from the corner of Chanyeol's eye, nodded his head.

Kyungsoo got up and walked the two steps. He took Chanyeol's hand into his own as he sat back down. Chanyeol stared at their hands and he couldn't help but think about how perfectly they fit.

“I like you too, Kyungsoo,” Chanyeol said quietly. But he couldn't help but voice his concerns. “Is… are you guys sure that it's okay? Two alpha's liking the same omega never bodes well.”

“Well, it's not often that two alphas have fucked and like each other,” Kyungsoo said rubbing his thumb on the back of Chanyeol’s hand. “Or that the omega likes them back.”

“We are okay with it, with us,” Jongin motioned his hand in a circle. Chanyeol felt himself become excited at the thought of having two alphas to his own. “We'll take, whatever this is, slow.”

“Communication is important,” Kyungsoo said. “If this is going to work out.”

Chanyeol nodded his head.

“If you're not comfortable with something, say it,” Jongin said. “Our dynamics should never interfere with your comfort level.”

“I wouldn't...I mean,” Chanyeol all of a sudden felt a wave of emotion crash into him. Losing Kyungsoo, getting him back and still keeping Jongin. All of it was too much for his omega blood to handle.

Chanyeol felt tears come to his eyes and then he started to cry. But both of his hands were occupied, so he lowered his head to hide his face as tears started to drop into his lap.

“Chanyeol, why are you crying?” Jongin asked. Chanyeol felt a hand rub his back. Another was gently rubbing his knee.

Fuck. Chanyeol thought. He felt so cherished. So secure. So loved.

“B-because I get to be with both of you,” Chanyeol said through his tears. “I get to love both of you.”

Chanyeol felt his left hand get released then arms wrap around him. Pine and snow, was what he smelled. Then his other hand was free and another set of arms embrace them. Jasmine and ember.

The scents of his alpha's.

Final author's note As I said above, I do plan on extending it or making drabbles (probably drabbles). Because I really liked where I was going with it and I definitely want to write more and flesh it out. So, if any of y’all are interested keep an eye out for it
