I am the destroyer of ipods! Rawr!

When I posted about my ipod dying, I didn't know it would become a saga...

I went a little over a week enduring musicless subway rides before I realized that I'm really enough of a spoiled brat that I just can't live like that anymore. How did I ever manage before? Oh right - I didn't live in NYC then. Hah. Shorter commutes. And, uh, I guess I had a CD player. Anyway, I found a nice 40 GB ipod (twice as much space! Oo!) on Ebay and bought it. It arrived on Saturday, and all was wonderful... until 2 days later, when it decided to pull its April Fools joke on me. Monday night I flicked it on, and it started skipping through all the songs, and I heard the all-too-familiar spinnnn-click sound that had signalled Lucy's demise. Yup, dead. Sigh. I'm beginning to know what it feels like to be rkane :P Fortunately, the guy I bought it from is replacing it. Third time's a charm? I guess we'll see sometime next week.

In happier news, hey, tonight I did stuff! I have a social life, I swear, it just usually consists of going to dinner or watching TV with people. Which is fun, don't get me wrong, it's just not particularly journal-worthy. Tonight, though, party! Tatianna has been wanting to have people over to her apartment, and Rosa has been wanting to cook for people again, so we made an event of it. There were 9 of us in all: me, Rosa, Pearl, Robert, Tati (all of them are in my program at school), Sasha (Pearl's boyfriend), Ken (Pearl's friend), Gunnar (Tati's friend), and Crystal (Tati's roommate). Rosa made delicious pasta, salad, and some sort of strawberry and cream dessert. After we'd all had a couple of drinks, we decided to try out the karaoke OnDemand feature of their cable ;) Crystal is a musician, so she already had a microphone and speakers set up in the living room, conveniently. We all had a most fabulous time singing, dancing, playing Crystal's drums, and generally making fools of ourselves ;) And probably annoying the neighbors, though we got no complaints. We ended with a group rendition of Wind Beneath My Wings that was just hilarious. Tati, Rosa and Crystal can really sing! Tomorrow will tell whether I still have a voice ;) I've gotta get my suitemates to go karaokeing again before some of them move out :P
