Finally, someone who sees Padmé like I do. chameleon_irony December 21 2009, 21:19:49 UTC
WOW.
Wow, wow, wow. I absolutely LOVE this fic.

I love the contrast between Anakin's letters, expressing his feelings for her, and her feelings - how she is angry at him because she hates the things he makes her feel. The best thing in this story, in my opinion, is Padmé's characterisation.

She did all this out of duty. Because that was right. And necessary.
She has nothing to be sorry for.

That's just so... in character for Padmé, the way I see her. I'm sure this isn't what George Lucas meant, but it makes a lot more sense than to say that "she did this out of love". At least, it's easier to understand.

She had decided; by her own free will, in her own private dark corners, that a sacrifice needed to be made in order to preserve Anakin Skywalker for the effort of war, for the continued existence of the Republic and democracy.

Oh my God. albumsontheside can probably guess how I felt reading that. ;) For a long time, I tried to understand why Padmé might have married Anakin. I wanted a logical reasoning, other than love, which is illogical. And this is the reasoning I came up with - a reasoning that makes sense for her character. It's wonderful to see that I'm not the only one who thought about that.

Thank you for writing this. I really, really enjoyed reading it.

Thank you! That's one of the best reviews I've ever got. I don't have anything against Anakin/Padme- as long as it doesn't make Padme some weak, infatuated girl (which, actually, GL did in ROTS). After all, it's her strong character- along with her beauty, obviously- that has attracted Anakin.

Wow, now I'm a non-shipper who has written a "shipping" (if you can call it that ;P ) fic. World never ceases to amaze me!

Thank you for reading, and sharing your thoughts with me. Invaluable feedback!

I wish you everything the best for Christmas, hun! Peace of mind, joy and good rest :)

Hey, you deserve it. It was one of the best fics I've read.

I... wouldn't call it that. For my own sake, because I like it so much, despite not being an Anakin/Padmé shipper. And that's a big understatement. I actually have no idea how Sammy puts up with my irrational, seething loathing for her OTP.

Happy Christmas to you as well! :)

not being an Anakin/Padmé shipper.

I think I know what you mean- I can't make myself ship any pairing at all (in any fandom). If anything, I "ship" a character- his/her character, past, views etc. And that's probably a kind of fic I enjoy reading *shrugs* We all have our quirks :P

You know, that's a good thing to ask her :) Knowing her, the answer can be quite amusing :) She comes up with the most amazing-unusual ideas.

Happy Christmas to you as well! :)
Christmas was fine- but the road to my grandparents' and back was the greatest nightmare imaginable :/ We have the roads suitable for Middle Ages!
