An adjective

Childish. I hate being called that. It’s an adjective that I associate with spoiled brats that live beyond their means (or the means of their parents). They have not experienced enough of the world to be humbled by it. Suffering to them is someone else's troubles because that’s who they rely on to get them out of the messes they create - like a child. I grew up surrounded by these people and have had to spend more time then I’d like to remember putting up with their crap.

I think of my personality more as young at heart. To others there may be a small difference, but to me there is a very fine line. I try to see things through a child’s rose-tinted glasses in order to better understand people and be more forgiving. I choose to approach life with a child’s simple mind and heart so I can believe that there is goodness in life despite all the badness it may throw at us. I am the way I am to remain sane - to remain hopeful.

So don’t assume just because someone likes to smile a lot and is “happy-go-lucky” that they lack maturity and label them as childish. Often times, those are the people who are most aware and have worked hardest to retain that smile.
