Tony said this to me:
"The phrase thank you has meant, over the course of time, many different things. It has meant something as simple as, "Thanks for the ride," to something as complex as "Thank you for existing -- for without you I don't know that I would exist as I do at all." In this way... thank you has developed into something as beautiful and mundane as the moment we ascribe it to
although we've grown apart
you have maintained your exhilerant beauty
and the only thing I can think to say
with all my words
with all my many, many superfluous words
is this --
Thank you."
To which I FEEBLY replied:
I'm moved to speechlessness. And near tears, my love. I really don't even know what to say - mostly because it won't be anywhere NEAR as beautiful as that.
But
You are amazing. I've always loved you and our friendship and connections. And you helped me survive school! And... ugh. You have the most beautiful soul of anyone I've known and you're sooo intelligent - and not wasting it! I cant wait to see you this summer :D
Tony:
You flatter a simple man with simple ambitions who wishes to hold on to an amazing dreamer who has fled to a faerie land far away
I love you for all that you are, and I love you more for what you are not
Me:
For the record, I don't believe you're just a 'simple man with simple ambitions'. You are SO much more than that.
