Scarecrows and Zombies, Oh my!

There were two movies I remembered distinctly seeing as a child, the images which stayed with me well into adulthood, but which I never learned the name of or saw again. The first of which was solved when I was 19, randomly walking into my parents living room and seeing "Mask" on the television. Immediately I knew it was the movie I'd wondered about since a kid (all I could remember was that the main character with the weird face was named Rocky, and then for years naturally assumed that the "Rocky" movies were the same thing.)

The second film was even more vague, since I'd only seen part of it. I was no more than 6, and at my great-aunt's house. A scarecrow was marching through a field on a murderous rampage. I was frightened, but spellbound. However, my aunt turned it off, because I shouldn't have been watching it. I can't blame her a bit, I wouldn't let a kid watch a horror movie either. I've spent years trying to piece together what this movie was (at one point I thought it was Children of the Corn) but it wasn't until visiting the Byrd theatre website recently that I managed to finally put it all together.

There it is! Apparently it was a made for TV movie, which makes sense since I recall watching it in the daytime, and also because it explains the rarity. Now that I know the title, I couldn't even find it on Netflix. Anyway, this midnight showing is probably the only time I'll ever get to see this film that's haunted me most of my life, so you can bet your ass that's where I'll be Saturday. I just hope I can find people to go with me!

Just sharing because I think it's neat.

I'm also available to do the zombie walk this weekend (finally) and I have no one interested in going with me. Yes, I do realize it's borderline lame, but what do you expect from a theatre arts kid?
