This is something I need to get off my chest, and will not make for good reading. My apologies in advance. In short, DO NOT bank with BB&T.

I had a slightly similar problem with BoA and Target. I had wanted to pay my target purchase w/ two c/cs b/c after being in the store for an hour shopping, my transaction came to more than i expected. Two times at the register the transaction didn't split it up right, so it charged my bank card the whole amount. They canceled the transactions, but this never canceled the "hold" in my bank account so there was $200+ on hold for 2 transactions that were never going to clear. I would have been all fine and dandy if those holds weren't there when other things came through and cleared the next week but b/c of the holds were still on there I got a bunch of over draft fees for tiny charge amounts. I was on my way off to vacation over a holiday too. Luckily the vacation was with my parents, so I didn't have to pay my way around town.

Now that I think about it, I also had an issue w/ BoA thinking a video camera purchase at Best Buy was a fraud, and declining my card (had tried twice) so there I was with 2 $300 holds on transactions they declined (and then freezing my card). Thankfully it was pay day when I did this so I had funds in the account to keep it from really going into the negative, and I had a friend on the trip with me who paid me her portion in cash so I had that to live on for the weekend while I waited for the declined transaction holds to go away and give me my money back.

let's just go back to keeping our money in our matresses eh?

Incidentally, the credit card company who made the error which caused the erroneous $50 charge that got me in this mess is Bank of America.

Banks... can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em...
