A most necessary rant:
I don't know who is dumber, Katy Perry or her fans.
That said, I will admit that her marketing department/record executives are genius, for bringing crap to the table and making the masses think it is in any way worth listening to.
I say this because:
Recently all my radio presets got deleted by accident, causing me to listen to radio stations I otherwise normally wouldn't. On my lunch break yesterday, this song (that now I know as "Hot and Cold") began playing with lyrics not unlike those I wrote when I was ten. I listened with amusement, to see just how awful the song really was, and it's truly, really, really bad. Hours later as I ventured home to work, "I Kissed a Girl" came on and I realized it was the same shitty voice and immature lyrics. Today, while browsing the 9:30 Club website, I saw that she's playing there soon and that the SHOW IS SOLD OUT.
What could these ticketpayers actually be thinking? Do they want to see a pretty face? Watch a movie with Zooey Deschanel. She's (unfortunately for her) Katy Perry's lookalike to a T. Do they want to hear a song about girls kissing girls? Listen to Jill Sobule's "I Kissed a Girl" which is far superior lyrically, vocally, rhymicly... and so on.
YIKES, MUSIC INDUSTRY. YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS. AND IF YOU REALLY THINK YOU CAN'T, HIRE ME, BECAUSE (AS I'VE BEEN SAYING SINCE ASHLEE SIMPSON FIRST PUT OUT AN ALBUM) EVEN I HAVE A BETTER VOICE.
