first day in the books

so today was my first day being a USF Bull. woke up at 7 to be out the door by 7:40, in time to be at school at 9. and that, combined with my one hour drive back home (without traffic), would be the most annoying part of my day. i got there, parked in the parking garage, and hurried to my first class.. chemistry. not bad, it was just packed. and it was a lecture hall that held 230 students. this guy that sat next to me started talking to me right away.. jason from Tarpon Springs. i wasn't fully awake yet, but the 50 minutes went by real quick. so out the door i was, and i sat in the marshall center beside the starbucks lounge and waited for sophomore greg to get out of his class. i called him at 10:30 and we decided we'd meet up for brunch. greg just so happens to also be recruitment chair for his fraternity, sigma chi. he's relentlessly pursued me to rush and pledge, though my parents are the only obstacle from that becoming a reality. anyway, we went to Argos to meet up with his friends for brunch. the kind soul paid for me, since i didn't have a meal plan and USF loves to overcharge individuals without a meal plan. i met his friends, two sorority girls (one named megan) and two guys. i was a little nervous, of course. there was a lot of side conversation between greg and i, him telling me more about the fraternity and discussing my rooming situation. so the girls overheard and asked where i live and what year i am. i dunno, i felt a little embarassed saying 'freshman'. oh well.. everyone's so nice at that school that it kills me. you just don't see that happening at gardens.

after brunch greg and i went upstairs to resident services so i could check on my application for on-campus housing. they received it, and it turns out that i am next on the list to be assigned. but greg told me the downside of living in a dorm opposed to living in the frat house. and it all seemed appealing. after that we went to the tampa room to sit and on the way we saw megan again. quick chat, and then greg and i sat at one of the tables so he could tell me more. he had class and so we agreed we'd meet up after our class to go check out the house. he left, and i was alone to wander around for 2 hours. i walked. i sat. i walked again, and saw yeon. she was surprised to see me. i walked her to her car, we caught up, exchanged numbers, said goodbye. my last class was sociology. my professor would give the impression that she's a little bit off, but i guess she's had a traumatic life of some sort. it's a nice class, though.. even though it's in another lecture hall, at least it's not packed as much as chemistry is. the girl that decided to sit next to me had that little side glance towards me thing going a lot.. and she would laugh at every single thing i laughed at. eh.

so class got out and i was done for the day, gave greg a call and we met up by BEH and walked all the way to Greek Village. and that is crazy even for a former cross country runner who's used to the heat like me. trust me, palm beach gardens and the surrounding areas are NOT HOT.. not even close to what tampa's got cooking. anyway, we got to the house. all in all, i really like it. i could see myself living there and being a brother. i met some of the other brothers and they all seem pretty cool. one of them, blake, i took a liking to. he lived in jupiter and graduated from jupiter high. we talked endlessly and we have a shitload in common. i had to check my phone to see what time it was to remind myself that i needed to be home. damn living in new port richey. it'll all be over. soon :)
