A Proper Garden Post

So yeah, I got home before dark today and managed to remember to take my camera outside with me while watering the garden.  Water that we gather in a small rain barrel when the central air system kicks out it's condensation.  It does this a few times a day.  The more humid/hot the day is the more water we get.  It kinda conveniently works out considering the especially hot days tend to be the ones you need to give extra water to your plants on.  Hoo-Ray.

Ignore the tri-tone walls that have not been painted since our construction last year.

Speaking of heat, it has taken it's toll on my little peas.  We had a little more than a week of high 90's and absolutely no rain.  The peas did not like.  Did not like one bit.  They still might rebound.  There is hope yet for my frozen pea stash.

Umm, ignore the weeds.  You don't see the weeds.  My Proper Garden Post is quickly fading.

Those ground cherries (I could have saved you a google search had I explained them, mehe) are going crazy with the fruit pods!  Tonight I got a really good look at them since the sun was still up.  After moving a few leaves aside I discovered I have 3 times as many growing fruits as I thought I had!  Once they turn yellow they are ripe.  You open up the little papery husk (similar to a tomatillo) and eat the golden berry inside.  Sweet and juicy with a flavor similar to a blueberry.

I'm going to skip over my frustration that is my inability to grow a pepper plant that produces decent sized edibles.  Instead I will focus on my beloved roma tomato plant.  It's not the biggest tomato plant in our garden, but I loves it the most.  The bunnies and bugs can attack the other tomatoes with only limited bitching from me.  But I have been watching these big, fat, beautiful romas for several weeks waiting for them to ripen so I can grab them before nature does.

Is that a gigantic, mutant blade of grass?  I'm not growing corn.  Lord.  I need to weed.

And finally, we will end with a little plant that needs a name.  Two months ago I randomly purchased a mini rose plant from a grocery store - not sure why.  I then spent two months randomly forgetting to water it, being too lazy to repot the poor thing, not pruning, and pretty much ignoring it.  And yet it is still alive.  This little bugger is a survivor.  It needs a name.  Suggestions?
