Memoir

I haven’t posted an entry in some time. I start to write and then lose the train of thought. Not a good thing for someone that enjoys writing as much as I usually do. I was inspired by a piece of fiction though… A friend did a memoir series for an RP character of hers. I wrote one for my Double Star character and realized that I should be posting my own memoir after all, isn’t that partly what a journal is for?

First order of business is to offer happy birthdays and good wishes to anyone I missed over the last couple of months. My memory is full of holes and without the birthday reminders I forget to post.

My house looks like crap and this weekend will be devoted to cleaning if I have to live on ibuprofen to get it done. The place looks like a few tornadoes hit and the laundry has become mountains. On the good side… my daughter actually did dishes.

Isn’t it funny how some things appear, but when you dig a bit deeper they aren’t that way at all? Time heals, but sometimes, you still feel like you are looking at a train wreck about to happen.

Weird thought for today: I could never just give over a character that was involved in my SL and played by another person to a new player. Now, if I had written the character originally, lent them out, and reclaimed them, that’d be another matter. Case in point, the fuss over some child characters. Take this for instance though… at one time Collie had been involved with one of the bad boys of the Duel of Swords, Draven Altrius. That character had a history of his own and no matter how much I’d like to have some sort of closure in that relationship for story reasons, I couldn’t rightly say to anyone besides the creator, “Hey, could you play him for a night?” It’s like… taking a piece of someone’s soul. You know, I never thought of it… but maybe asking him couldn’t hurt.

Consider how the character of James Bond changes from actor to actor. We go from Connery the rugged to Moore the clotheshorse. The change of actor, changes how the character “feels.”

Did you ever notice how some music gives you the feel for what you want to write? I need to find some Twentieish music. I find a couple pieces that will work, but the one that fits the character is “As Time Goes By.”

Something I find annoying… why do people playing period characters place 21st century morals on them? People from pre-1970 would have no clue that alcoholic beverages are bad for pregnant women. That’s when scientific evidence was first shown to the public. They tagged it fetal alcohol syndrome. I’m not talking multi-genre characters where the character could be learning the customs of the new era; I’m taking say… medieval characters in a medieval setting.

Liz finally did a wake up call. She informed me today that she is applying for college. Likely she’ll be applying for the next fall semester. It will give her time save some money, get loan info and get her head together.
I need to make arrangements to take Gabe out. We want to take him to the zoo for the day. They were away for his birthday, so we missed it. I have gifts here from my folks for him. Hard to believe he’s five already!!

Based on the fact that the SSA is requesting additional copies of my records for doctors, I have to wonder what’s up. I got a notice from Tricare, the military health insurance, saying that a charge of 18.00 was placed on my account for treatment on July 5, 2002. Problem… I haven’t seen that particular doctor since Sept. 2000. Seems that it’s for a records request that should have been charged to the TX department of Rehabilitation. Now, I have to ask… why are they requesting copies of records I already gave them?

Something for Jean and Hal, http://melfort.com/people/catholic_history.html I found this, it’s an Encyclopedia of Catholic History. I thought you might want to take a gander.
