It's a semi-normal day around here. However, it's not everyday that you have spent 27 years with someone. Anniversary 27. Scary, huh?
Last night I sat out with the candy as I usually do. We got at least 60 trick or treaters, but we live in a primarily military neighborhood so there are lots of kids around. I sat out for two reasons, dog and ditch. No doorbell or knocking means the pooch stays relatively quiet. Sitting out means that the kids don't cross the yard, where we have a drainage ditch they can fall into. Thankfully, in Texas it's warm in October to someone that grew up in PA. I ended up with a sweater on. Not because I was cold, but because the mosquitoes wanted to eat me!
Cutest costume was a tie between a toddler girl dressed as a poodle and a four or five year boy old dressed Harry Potter. Most adorable trick or treater was a little girl dressed as Jeannie (I Dream of Jeannie). She did that crossed arms and popped the ponytail thing just like Barbara Eden did in the TV show! Most original costume I saw was a reporter, she was dressed to the nines in heels and carrying a microphone and interviewed people. Prettiest one was a salsa dancer, the dress reminded me of Rose's ball gown in Titanic.
The Jeannie thing prompted me to look up
Barbara Eden. Ms. Eden, IMO, is a classic beauty. I doubt she's ever had a bit of plastic surgery and is still lovely in her seventies. Brittany Spears and a few others should take a lesson there.
Mattel's
Jeannie Barbie is one I'd like to get my hands on some day.
And who knew that that the
"I Dream of Jeannie" theme had lyrics? Doesn't really surprise me since
Star Trek and
Bonanza did. That brings back memories. My grandfather used to watch Bonanza and Gunsmoke every Sunday night. Anyone of the family was welcome to watch, but it was an unspoken rule that you didn't talk while in the TV room. If you wanted to socialize, you went into the kitchen.
