Good Thought for the Day
First day of a new year has ending and somehow, it seems to be promising
for many things.
Random Thought for Today
Children are the joy and trial of every parent.
My front end stuff is more lengthy than usual so.... I'm
using the cut so as to not bombard the friend's
pages.
Quotes of the Day
"Hearts will never be practical until they are made unbreakable
......."
Wizard of Oz
"I'd agree with you if you were right...."
Awakenings
"That which does not kill us, makes us stronger....."
Steel Magnolias
"I was married. My husband cheated on me left and right.
He made me feel like I was crazy all the time. One day
he tells me it's MY fault he saw other women. So I picked
up a knife and told him it was HIS fault I was stabbing him."
Living Out Loud
Kurt Russell: "What can I possibly give you that you don't
already have?"
Goldie Hawn: "A little girl."
Overboard
"A man may give himself to passion and desire, but a woman
loves."
Steve Wariner - A Woman Loves
"If you could read my heart then you'd know without
exception, it was all with the best of intentions."
Travis Tritt - Best of Intentions
Cool Sites for Today
Hallmark Hall of Fame ran a film a few weeks back called,
"The Seventh Stream." It was about a selkie, so considering my interest in
the Celtic Myths, here's a few sites:
Welcome to Crystal
Mountain's Selkie Sound
Legend - Fairy
Tales
Merrows and

Info of the Day - Swashbucklers, part
1?
Johnston McCulley is probably rolling in his grave,
but I'll give the writer of this LJ,
Zorro's Live
Journal , an A for humor. I wish Spanish had been my choice of language
so I could understand the smattering that's there a little better.
Something a bit more serious can be found at
Walt Disney's Zorro.
Like James Bond, the role of Zorro has has been played by some of Hollywood's
best looking actors, most recently by Antonio Banderas. He's slated to star
in a sequel to the Mask of Zorro called
Zorro Unmasked. My
favorite was Guy Williams, who later played the role of Professor John Robinson
in "Lost in Space." What can I say? It was a childhood crush. Performance
wise, I'd have to say the best I've seen is Tyrone Power in
The Mark of Zorro.
Power was from the old school of movie making when the hero had to be able
to dance, sling a sword, and ride a horse. Stunt men were few and far between
back then.
Word of the Day
Main Entry: star·struck
Pronunciation: -"str&k
Function: adjective
Date: 1968
: particularly taken with celebrities (as movie stars)
From the Merriam-Webster dictionary on AOL
Given what I just read on their site,
M-W Copyright notices,
I'm going back to Manx, Breton, Gaelic, Erse, and Cymree for my words of
the day. Seems they, M-W, disapprove of their site or printed material being
quoted, with or without credit.
Somewhere in America:
"Do your homework!"
"Can't, teacher said, "Write the definitions of ten words from the
dictionary."
"Well, look up the words for heaven's sake!"
"I don't want to be arrested."
Yup.. I can see that slackjawed parent trying to tell the
kid fair use should apply because of educational purposes, but... the kid
would be effectively be right.
The Daily Smidge of Frustration
Here's irony...
KaZaa
which is an internet service that allows people to download from the computers
of others that are tapped into their service. On this page:
http://www.kazaa.com/en/defend.htm,
they tell their users that KaZaa is not run by big business and encourage
them to basically tell said big business they are interfering with the
individual's right to share what's on their computer. So where's the irony?
Right here
http://www.kazaa.com/en/terms.htm
in terms 2, 5, and 6. Basically what that says to me is download all you
want, but if you get sued, you are on your own and we'll help them prosecute.
Anyone read that differently than I did? Maybe I misunderstood.
We now return you to the regularly scheduled rambling LJ entry for the
day......
Now... for the silent one that wouldn't name names but wanted
me to...
Sometimes, we have feelings in our hearts that are hard
to express. Often they are good, but others they are as confusing as driving
through a snowstorm at night in the Rockies. They are what lead us on a search
for that one perfect moment we are meant to have, our ten minutes of fame.
The problem with that, I've learned is while looking for that ten minutes,
we miss so many wonderful, if not perfect, moments. We end up cheating ourselves.
Such is the case with what happened to me this past year. I got sidetracked
to happier subject than this and my thoughts are scattered. I need to write
more.
One thing I would like to note, when someone is trying to
be clandestine in their means of accomplishing a task, it's often best to
leave no trail behind. While it was not my intention to spring any sort of
trap on anyone, I did get the answer to a question that has long been on
my mind because of something I read and noted in a previous post. I have
others, but the odds of getting answers are slim to none. You did do one
thing that you may not have realized, you proved me right about a few things.
Instead of confronting me directly, you opted for another pathway. You forced
what you knew would be a matter of honor. You showed me that you do read
here. Don't make the mistake of assuming everything I've said about you was
bad, because it wasn't. I could go on and on about things that irritated
me, things that hurt me, however, the good people on my friends list have
had their eyes filled over the last five months with rantings about you.
I leave you with these thoughts to ponder:
You once asked me to not judge you based on the actions of someone else toward
me. I gave you that chance, I don't regret it. You, however, did what you
had asked me not to. Based on the actions of another's behavior toward you,
you judged me and assumed my reaction before allowing me a chance. It was
all so simple, it's still simple. I must ask... how hard was "I'm not happy,
I want.. need to move on?" You moved on, so it was the truth, no extra details
were needed. It was simple and straight forward. All I've ever wanted was
to hear you say good bye. I think I, or anyone else whose life you have walked
out of, deserve that and I mean ALL. I think they deserve closure and that
you deserve to be thought well of for the good things as a opposed to a few
nasty names I won't utter or write. I would think it would be better to be
thought of fondly by those that you once meant so much to as opposed to being
a name that causes hatred to rise.
Heal your bridges and walk back onto your own side, there's
no need for them to be crossed to get to you, but it will allow hearts to
rest and if you don't understand, they maybe you really don't know the impact
you have on people's lives. In the Wizard of Oz as the Tin Man is handed
the watch, the Wizard tells him that a heart is not judged by how much we
love, but how much we are loved by others. Allow yours to be judged
well.
Sweet songs of youth, the wise, the meeting of all wisdom,
to believe in the good in man.
