When you have a large kitchen with a lot of chefs, there is someone who coordinates everything. If there are too many people trying to fill the role of Head Chef, you end up with bad dishes. Likewise, if everyone serves as sous chef or the like, there is no coordination and someone makes quiche when he needed to make flan.
As with most situations of this nature, the chefs need to congregate to figure out who is doing what. Of course, I think the case might be more of a loosely organized cookoff or potluck. Each chef makes his/her signature dish for judgment or sharing.
But someone's signature dish might include mushrooms, which means I just can't eat it. My signature dish incluce cilantro and some people really hate cilantro. Maybe communication isn't the answer, I don't know. All I know is that I am hungry and I don't think anyone is much closer to solving the issue of the cooks and cooking.

Me, I just want my part of the dish to be appealing to those dining and fit in nicely with the other dishes being served. I want it to taste good, but not overshadow the presentation of the courses being prepared by the other cooks.
