Short notes...

I finally finished Life Expectancy. It has quite a few plot twists that I didn't see coming, but for the sake of those that read Koontz, I won't post spoilers. There was a moment when the main character, Jimmy's, daughter says when she grows up that she wants to be a bullshit artist. It was so out of left field, considering the mostly serious tone of the book, that it cracked me up! It was about right for a precocious three or four year old that picks up on everything. Seems she overheard the mailman or somebody flirting with her great grandmother, who told the flirt he was a bullshit artist. Heh... kids... they pick up on some interesting things, no?

Things that make you go hmm.... when people post up web pages that they expect people to read, why do they use colors that clash and fonts that make people squint? Like... yellow lettering on a white page... ewwwwwww. And.. certain greens on black.. Oh, and with the new AOL Profile set up, people have to cut and paste to a new doc if they want to clear the thing to be able to read what the horrible color combos don't allow.

Current audio book is Bonfire of the Vanities by Tom Wolfe narrated by John Lithgow. John Lithgow is an actor that almost always cracks me up... Buckaroo Bonzai, John Warfin, John Bigboote... Boo-tay... ... you take it from there. It was one of those you had to have seen it to get it things.

I've been trying to emphasize the good things in life of late, but sometimes, you just have to let out what's honking you off. At the suggestion of muse, several years ago, I started writing down things that goad me in letter form. Whether or not the person I'm angry with or hurt by ever reads it doesn't matter, what matters is that the feelings get purged and the poison leaves me. That's a been helpful activity that often gives me an insight into myself as well as others. And let this serve as a reminder or a warning that some of those might be posted in the next few days and it also serves as a reminder that these are not necessarily people that read my journal.

hmm things, aol_woes, letters, books, movies
