Cy, my youngest brother (he's 12), overheard me discussing the Giving Tree with my mother and pulled out his wallet and every last dollar that he had and told me that he wanted to donate it all. It was $25 exactly, so I showed him that he could buy a textbook and a mosquito net or sponsor a child's education for one month and he decided to sponsor a kid in Uganda, because he really likes school and wants them to like it, too. Isn't that amazing? I almost cried. Like, really- I really almost cried. That was the happiest I have been in a very, very long time.
