Yo-kai watch comic ideas.
I was asked by a handful of people if I ever planned to work on a Yo-kai watch comic, since I’m well known for making comics. I do have a few ideas planned, but first I would like to finish all of my pokemon comics. If I were to do a yo-kai watch comic, nothing would be in color, just black and white manga styled. As for the title, I’d possibly call it Yo-Kai Watch USA, and done with my OC’s and other cannon yo-kai. This journal will be edited if more idea come to my head.
As for the premise, I’d have the protagonist be 22 years old, and being a selective mute, which will allow a lot of character development. She also works in retail, and lives in an apartment for low income people. I did try to check her Mary Sue status, and she came out to be as high as 22: too many similarities to me, but can stand out to be a completely different character, and didn’t even make the Mary Sue mark.
As for the yo-kai, that live with her, the interactions will be different then in the media, and will show a deep friendship that can be considered deeply platonic (especially with Whisper). Whisper being the main character and butler, will be Maddie’s closest and bestest friend, along with a FEMALE Thornyan and a male Manjimutt (That Maddie sees and calls her ‘uncle’). Whisper and Majimutt’s personalities, I’m going to try to keep as close as possible to the anime, and as for Thornyan, I’m gonna wing it.
Since my LJ seems to be used for random crap I post, and since I did type down my pokemon Black and White comic ideas here, several years ago, and they became a hit, so may as well jot down ideas here yet again.
Maddy (real name Matilda)
Gender: Female
Age: 22
A young woman recently turned orphan after her parents die. Living alone in an apartment, has hit her hard trying to become an adult too quickly, and with her having selective mutism has caused her to become anxiety ridden. Her life soon changes, when she decides to go on a hike and decides to take a different path, and finds a gashipon machine by a tree. she enters a coin in, and releases Whisper.
Being a selective mute all her life, has caused her to have very little friends, and ever since she releases Whisper, he and her become close friends to a platonic level. Due to Whisper’s patience and gentle nature (though unaware of her mutism), Maddie’s character development goes from an extreme doormat/selective mute to the complete opposite. She deeply values friendship, and doesn’t care if the yo-kai is considered unpopular (hell, she makes close friends with casanono).
With yo-kai now entering her life, she begins to see how yo-kai begin to affect her job (and the actions of others), which eventually gets her fired, then she lands another one later on in the process. Maddie enjoys karaoke, but doesn’t sing with anyone, and even gets silent when Whisper walks in and wants to sing along (though this changes after they bond).
She loves Jazz, country, and old 80’s-90’s music. her weaknesses are standing up for herself, her forgetfulness, her obliviousness, mutism, and her inability to remember people’s names.
Maddie’s Yo-Kai form is named Forgetfulish and is a B rank, slippery tribe yo-kai, with the water attribute. When she temporarily becomes a yo-kai her ability is to make people forget names of anyone. Her design is based on a shubunkin goldfish. Her fusion evolutions include Whisper where she becomes a Ryukin (currently no name) which is an A rank, slippery tribe yo-kai. Maddie admits that she prefers fusing with Whisper. The other fusion evolution, that maddie doesn’t know about is fusing with pandanoko to become a rare S rank, slippery tribe yo-kai. That design is based on the panda oranda.
Whisper
Gender: Male (Duuh)
The reliable yo-kai butler and closest friend to Maddie, who was released from a gashipon machine, and became her butler out of gratitude. Being the false knowledge yo-kai, he often relies on his yo-kai pad to relay information when encountering an yo-kai. Since the day they met, Maddie’s life has changes in a (mostly) positive way. He’s always following Maddie wherever she goes, and is often the witness to her misfortunes (such as her car getting destroyed, her neighbor harassing her, or her boyfriend dumping her, getting fired, ect), but is always there for her when those events happen. Maddie was easily able to open to herself to Whisper due to his patience, polite, and gentle nature. They do often argue about Whisper using his yo-kai pad in the late hours of the night when trying to sleep, however she has no qualms about him using his pad in general, as she notices his high anxiety when he can’t use it. As always in all forms of media, he will be a butt monkey, however it will be severely downplayed. I feel like he’s gotten enough abuse as it is.
Thornyan (named Sassy)
Gender: Female
A rough and tough street cat who was abandoned by her former owner, and is untrustworthy of humans. When she was abandoned, she easily fell ill to Parvo and died, and became a yo-kai. Because of her assertive nature, she teaches Maddie to stand up for herself and speak out. Sassy and Whisper hardly get along, but she get’s along perfectly fine with manjimutt, who she develops a crush later on (with Whisper teasing her when he does catch on.) She is often rebellious, and a bit destrictive. She has a bad habit of sratching her claws against things in the apartment, which has caused some tension between her and Maddie. She's also a bit ax-crazy as sometimes she has a warped view of situations.
Manjimutt
Gender: Male (Duh)
Formally a man who got laid off and died after getting hammered, he deiced to move to the USA to star in the movies. After failing to land a role in Hollywood, he finds himself homeless. After a rainy day, Maddie sees him and takes him in. Manjimutt treats Maddie as a daughter, since he had two in his former life, but never got the chance to say goodbye to them. manjimutt teaches Maddie how to handle responsibilities since she lives by herself. Thanks to Maddie’s kindness, Manjimutt manages to land a job. One constant struggle with Manjimutt is his lack to go to places, such as the mall, due to people thinking he’s a dog.
Other constantly reappearing yo-Kai:
Pupsicle: Her goal is to become the ice queen when she finds the snow cloak. Maddie tries to help her with her dream.
Cadin -> Cadable
Dimmy -> Blandon: Becomes friends with Maddie, who has never forgotten him. because he was called on so often, he was able to evolve into Blandon.
NoWay -> Impass
Casanono: a yo-kai who only anted a friend in life.
Bloominoko: A joyful yo-kai who is thankful for Maddie for finding her drop of joy when she was formally a Noko.
Draggie: A child yo-kai who Maddie befriends after he gets lost in the city, and wants to reunite with his parents in the hiking trail. He often teases Whisper and Maddie about being a couple. (note: There is this one idea of maddie being turned into a yo-kai.)
Chapters:
Long story short: mainly it’s about Maddie dealing with yo-kai in her workplace. These are not in order, since I’m jotting down ideas.
Yo-Kai Are Real: Maddie goes hiking and discovers an old gashipon machine, and frees Whisper. they become friends.
Tough Street Cat Thornyan: Maddie meets Thornyan and befriends her.
Manjimutt: News goes around of a dog with a human face wandering around town. Maddie befriends him after a rainy day.
Camping: Maddie decides to take a vacation and go camping, and decides to invite her yo-kai friends. Maddie decides to have a strict ‘no electronics’ rule, that Whisper tries so hard not to break. Whisper breaks this rule after it becomes his turn to tell a scary story by the campfire, and reads off of creepypasta :P haha.
Nightmares: I ned to find a yo-kai that causes nightmares to happen before I start on this one. It’s centered around Whisper having terrible nightmares for days, caused by a yo-kai, except that he doesn’t believe it is caused by one. Eventually after not getting sleep for several days, he admits defeat and says that it is one, and it gets defeated. Whisper's nightmares will be based a little bit from his past, and fear of losing control of his powers and maddie finding out about them.
Boxing: Sassy and Whisper get into a fight. Knowing that Thornyan can fight, and Whisper has no abilities (She’s unaware of his powers) to defend himself, she suggest using Wii Sports Boxing to vent out their anger at each other. This is just a short filler oneshot. :P
Forgetfulish: maddie gets into an accident and goes into a coma. She is temporarily turned into a yo-kai. With Whisper, they make their way through a rural area, and there they find a sad draggie, who has gotten seperated from his parents, when he wandered. They decide to help him find his parents, while trying hard to tolerate Draggie teasing them about why they aren’t dating.
Sing-A-Song: a yo-kai that makes people sing in song lyrics affects the workplace. How can Maddie and Whisper defeat this yo-kai?
Snow Cloak: During a terror time episode maddie finds the snow cloak that pupsicle has been searching for, but the Oni has discovered her. Will Maddie be able to defeat Oni to give Pupsicle the snow cloak?
