Pride Weekend

Pink Saturday
The fun began at Jay's xaoz, Brian's, and Brian's house. After an hour or so we walked to the Castro and went to the main event at Phil's house. Due to some miscommunications, we had to get 3 additional people into the party who were not on the list. It turned out to be easier than expected.

The highlight of the party (other than the people) was the beads. Phil's place is right on the Castro, and there is the giant party out on the streets. So from his second floor windows, we have not only a good view, but the perfect location to throw beads to people. But of course, you don't gets beads for nothing, first you must show us something. Now I was an equal opportunity bead giver, I'd give to women too, even if it brought me no pleasure. I also reluctantly gave beads to some men who'd I'd probably should have given beads to just to keep their pants up. But it was a blast.
Unfortunately, as expected, I tend to get tired early and by 1AM I was ready to sleep. Eventually Adric (vintagabanana), Aaron (radi0actv), and myself return to Owen's (thatboy19) home on Treasure Island. Soon thereafter Andrew (eomsam) joins us and we quickly entered into a quiet slumber.

Pride Parade
After sleeping in a little longer than we wanted, we headed to the city to enjoy the parade. The parade was nice, the part that it made it the most special was simply how long the parade was. It just seemed to go on and on, with lots of people celebrating pride. The after-parade celebration in the civic center was also cool. Saw an old acquaintance, who unfortunately has a new boyfriend. It turns out he is also a smoker, which is a big turn-off for me, oh well.

Dinner was at Aaron's, Tim's, and Derrick's (shawath) place. Good spaghetti (thanks Phil), sauce (thanks Jay) and garlic bread (thanks Tim?). We then played Celebrity for a couple of hours. We definitely picked some interesting individuals.

Afterwards, Patrick (pach00ey) was awesome and drove Andrew and myself (Steve (cheerfulchaotic) tagged along for the ride) to Owen's place to pick up our stuff that was left there from the previous evening. Thank you Patrick!

The whole weekend was long and tiring, but was excellent. I really enjoyed being around friends all weekend long. It wasn't till Sunday afternoon that the concept of work began creeping into my thoughts, which is surprising for me. Anyway, more later.
