So remember my Muse story I had to take off cos times changed? Well I'm bringing it back..only more modernized and personal. WHEEEEEEEEEEE
so here ya go.
Title: Music To My Eyes
Rating: probably like a teen or mature. for language
Description: Seattle band I'm With Stupid gets a deal to tour with the band Muse, but will it destroy friendships in and outside the band?
Disclaimer: don't own muse... or Jonah... sadly. or Jet City. so gah.
I sat with my legs crossed on my bed, my back up against the wall. My honky headphones sat lazily on my head as I listened to my favorite mix CD. Just as the Kaiser Chief song "Love's Not A Competition But I'm Winning" finished, there was a knock on my apartment door. Snapping up, I grabbed the guitar and slipped on the flipflops next to my bed. "Coming!" I yelled as I almost tripped over some small things on the floor. I was clumsy like that. The door opened and there was Zoe, my best friend and bass guitarist.
"You ready to go?" Zoe asked, chewing a piece of bubble gum as she smiled.
"Yeah... 10 bucks the boys are already there," I replied, shutting the door behind me and locking it. We shook for the bet and walked down the hallway chit-chatting.
*********
"We're here!" I yelled as I walked inside the warehouse. Zoe shut the door behind her and took off her sunglasses. It was quite light in there, which was odd because weather in Seattle made the light disappear for weeks at a time.
"Donny LaRoque and Zoe Montgomery! You FINALLY show up!" replies a voice from the far corner. Heh, I thought, Zoe owes me 10 bucks! I walked to the far corner and saw Jimmy, Henry, and Freddy sitting on the couch. Henry, the openly gay one of the three guys was the one who yelled out. He was an amazing singer for a guy, but he was kind of a bitch sometimes. Jimmy, the pianist, was his boyfriend (much to Zoe's anger for inner-band relationships) and if we weren't practicing or doing stupid stuff, they were always making out. Which, by the way, creeped the hell out of me (long story...). Freddy was the only straight guy of the bunch, and he was our drummer. As much as I loved his life for who he was, (and as much as I knew he loved me), I had nothing in me for him. That was saved for Jonah. More on that later.
"Sorry we were late! My car died, and Zoe came to pick me up... alright?!"
"Jesus! Sorr-y!" Henry joked, putting on his girliest accent, even adding in the hand on the hip and snap maneuver.
"That was so hot!" Jimmy sighed and started kissing Henry.
I turned around. "You guys KNOW how much that bothers me..." Zoe laughed at me and I stuck out my tongue. About 5 seconds later, I was off the ground, being picked up from behind by none other than Freddy. "JESUS FREDDY PUT ME DOWN!!!! GAH!!!" Everyone laughed, and Freddy placed me on the ground.
"So, baby girl, we gonna start or what?" he asked, still laughing. I hit him in the shoulder and grabbed my guitar, plugging it into the amp near the couch. That was the cue for everyone to grab their instruments and take their places. Our first headliner gig was coming up the next day, and depending on the quality of that performance, we may have a huge gig with a big band. We needed all the practice we could get. By the end of the day, we had finished writing the song we were stuck on, had practiced each song thoroughly, and still had fun.
"All right, guys. It's a wrap. Our gig is tomorrow at the Showbox... we're headlining, so make sure to get here like 11:00 in the morning. And no making out around me yet, you too!" I pointed at Jimmy and Henry who shrugged at each other and giggled.
Putting my guitar next to the amp, I walked towards the door, forgetting to grab my shoes. It's my superstition to practice my music barefoot. Don't know why, it just helped me. Luckily, Zoe grabbed my flipflops and stuck her arm through the crook of mine. "Stressed much, aren't you?" she asked as she handed me my flipflops.
"Yeah, well, you would be too."
She looked at me funny. "So, you're going out with Jonah tonight, right?"
I nodded, my mind glazing over his face, smiling back at me. It always made my day worthwhile.
"Well," she replied, "don't stay up too late... and use a condom." I gave her that horrified look and hugged her before I went outside, where it was almost dark. With my flipflops on, hugging my feet with every step, I walked to the little yellow theater on University Way, where my date awaited.
