I am debating doing a half marathon for organ donation next Saturday, the 26th. (
http://www.premierraces.com/Races/lifeline.html) It is only a couple of days before the bar exam, so I am a little leery about it. But it is for a really good cause, one that means something to me because my grandmother was a kidney failure patient. She didn't get a transplant, though, because she was too old and weak and wouldn't have survived surgery - she wasn't even on the list - she did live for several years on dialysis.
However, what if I get hurt and can't take the bar? Or what if I am so sore that I can't even move, like last time -- that would make me lose a whole day of studying.
I will be around 9 miles in my training -- I did 7 yesterday and will do 8 this Saturday. So I will probably not be able to run the whole thing yet, but will do significantly better than I did last time.
So I am torn. It is even more tempting because it is only $17 because I am an organ donor.
Today, I am leaning towards doing it. Ask me next week when I realize how far behind I am bar studying. It might have to be a race-day decision.
On the other hand, I did sign up for this 10-mile race in Cleveland on August 17. That should be just about the right distance for me by then
