Today was our first anniversary. Madeline's taking a quick shower so I have a second to write this up.
We did presents in the morning, which was pretty sweet. Played some cards, did some stuff, and got some food on the way to Norlo Park (where we had our reception). We took walks, talked about memories of last year, and just relaxed. Then we played some baseball for awhile, which was a lot of fun. It was nice to not have to be anywhere or worry about time.
We went to my parents house to pick up the top of our cake, since it had been living in their freezer. On the way we saw a firetruck, and soon found one in their driveway. There was a fire in the neighbors house. Just a small one, the stove or something. It was kind of funny, there were about 8 or 9 firetrucks that showed up, maybe more.
We headed to Carslie and went to an antique shop. It was huge, and we spent a long time there. We're starting a tradition where every year we'll go to an antique shop and find salt n pepper shakers. Our own little collection. There were thousands to choose from it seemed, and we ended up with a cool pair of metal ducks.
Then we went to Olive Garden for dinner. I got a glass of Cabernet with my meal. It's actually the first time I've had a full glass of wine with a meal, which is crazy because I've worked at a winery for 2 years. The food was awesome, but about halfway through I all of a sudden got sick to my stomach and a headache at the same time. I'm not sure if it was the wine or what, but for a second I thought I was going to throw up right at the table. After a couple minutes I was ok, but it was really strange. Everything was great except for that one little moment.
We went back to Chambersburg but didn't want to go home quite yet, so we walked around Wilson College for awhile and saw the horses. Then back to the house to watch our wedding video.
It was nice to watch our wedding and be able to really pay attention to all the details. That day it was such a blur. Dang, it was a good wedding. I mean, really well done. Everything about the service was beautiful.
Then we had the top of our wedding cake. It was still the best cake I've ever had, even one year later.
It's been a great year, that's for sure. It may seem cheesy to say it, but time before Madeline seems so long ago, like I was a totally different person.
Time to start year #2.
