Today Madeline and I went for a walk. We were going to just go down to the end of the road and back (about 2 miles), but we ended up going on this huge loop, in which we actually had to cross a stream in bare feet. We ended up walking for 6.8 miles, and got home 2 and a half hours later. It was fun though.

So, we're wrapping up the first year of marriage, and it's been great. We're now at the point that we've pretty much figured out all that "married life" stuff, like how much we need to spend on groceries, how to communicate, who does various stuff around the house, etc. It's been pretty easy. We're also have "stuff" pretty set, meaning there's not a lot more we really need, except a good bed frame someday and a nice camera. We're good on almost everything else, which is awesome.

Now, though, is when we need to start making the bigger decisions. Like what we see ourselves doing for a career in 10 years, when we're going to have another kid, and where we're going to live.

The where we're going to live got an unexpected bump yesterday, when we were told landlord (landlady?) that she probably wants to sell the townhouse. We like this place quite a bit and would stay a couple more years, but we're probably not going to buy it. There's a lot of stairs, which isn't good for a baby, whenever that is.

So all of a sudden, we're looking at places. And the thing is, we're at the point in our lives where we really do not want to find a place just to rent for awhile. Aiden's already lived in 7 or 8 houses and he's not even 6 years old. So when we find a place we want to stay there.

Buying a house though... that's a pretty big deal, and obviously we've never done anything like it before. We have to see what we can even afford, and really start saving for a downpayment. That and the taxes are gonna be a killer.

Anyway, we have some time, but it's a little bit daunting. And I feel like we just got settled here, I'd like to have another year or so in this townhouse before we find a place.

We also have some stuff to figure out for this summer. I have to take Aiden to Texas for Jenn's wedding, and obviously I won't be at it so I'll have time to hang out in TX a couple days. I wanted to go to Illinois for Cara's wedding, but it's looking less likely with the cost of plane tickets and everything, and we would just be able to be there for the wedding day and that's it. I don't know for sure if I'm invited, although she asked for my address so that's probably a yes. Then we were going to try to have a little trip down to VA just the two of us, but who knows. That's a lot of money, and a lot of asking off work.

So, there's a lot up in the air right now. I like to have stuff figured out.

In other news, the Penguins are about to get swept by the Flyers in the first round of the playoffs. I paid attention to the regular season more than I ever have for any sport, so it's fitting that they would have the worst possible ending. They're not just getting beat, they're playing dirty and acting like whiney babies. It's pathetic and sad. They should have been better.

This was long and boring to anyone, but I needed to just write it all out, so there you go.

I need to eat more veggies.
