Can I just say...
I think Valentine's Day is a joke. It's not that I'm not romantic - most people who know me at all know that I am, in fact, something of an addict when it comes to love/romance - and please do not refer to me as a cynic or an emo kid. I just think that V-D is a really effective way of making people feel like shit if they don't have anyone to buy pink roses and chocolate for. I think it's a convenient way to let bad partners off the hook. "He treats me like shit, except on Valentine's Day he bought me a 3 carat diamond. I'm going to stick around for the next purchase. Maybe it'll be a wedding." That's not what love looks like to me.
Valentine's Day is a murderer of true love. That is why I hate it.
But for all of you who have someone special and are taking advantage of V-Day, go for it. Have especially delicious sex! Eat a lot of food! Drink champagne! Love one another!
Just don't forget that love should be celebrated every day, not just on February 14th.
